A sultry evening in late spring or early summer. You're sitting in an almost deserted restaurant. Behind the wide open panoramic windows are black silhouettes of cypresses and the lights of the city, spreading like a crescent along the coast. Your boldly colored silk shirt clings to your body. An olive pit floats in a muddy glass. A woman quietly weeps at the next table, unsuccessfully attempting to light a cigarette with her shaking hands. Colorful confetti is generously scattered across the dark brown tile floor. The person with whom you arrived together went away a few hours ago «to dance for a minute» and disappeared without a trace. A crimson lipstick stain remains on a crumpled napkin. It's time to leave, but instead you gesture to a bored waitress standing near a huge dieffenbachia to renew your champagne. She rolls her eyes in displeasure and heads toward the bar. Cicadas and unknown birds chirping outside. Is this a dream? Perhaps. Last year we heard Igor (Hipushit's real name) playing on Black Factory party and since then he became not just one of our favorite selectors on this planet but also a friend understanding you with a half-word. His knowledge is unlimited, he can pull rare French minimal synth with ease or make people go crazy at the speed of 110 BPM. Passionate digger, the resident of legendary Arma, he is equally exquisitely juggling with holy grail records on radioshows and playing orgasmic power electronics, darkwave, EBM sets in huge industrial spaces. We were first introduced to Muscut via the intriguing Waltz 7" that our good friend House of Traps was stocking in his temporary record shop The Living Mountain. Operating out of the former Eastern Bloc, Muscut is a label with it's own unique identity and sound. We became fans right away. Fast forward a couple of years and thanks to our mutual friend Daniel Hallstrom (who happened to be spending a summer in Kiev), we eventually met up and got to play some records together. Big thanks to both the Dmytro's for recording this mix for us and all the best for 2018! Look out for a forthcoming archival compilation that Nikolaienko is working on. Wild, experimental electronic music from the former USSR taking in animation soundtracks, library works and more....
