Froe, Gav and Merf made up the nu-skool breaks collective The Breakfastaz, known in the early 2000's for their unique sound and a heavy hitter in the Tear Out Breaks scene at that time. With other musical projects going on later in their careers the lads gained a huge following leading them touring the world, releasing over 20 successful tracks and remixes for top labels such as Passenger, Mob & Against The Grain. In 2005 the Breakfastaz won Best Breakthrough Act at the Breakspoll World Breakbeat Awards.

This mix was recorded LIVE @ Dynamic Breaks 1st Birthday around 2007 (I forgot to name the file correctly when i downloaded it back then), it's straight up Tear Out Breaks, so it's a little bit gnarly !

Imagine our luck! This week 2012 Breakspoll-winner, Colombo (aka Alejandro Rojo) is a surprise special guest in The Armory! His latest mixset was just dropped into our inbox by our friends at iBreaks so naturally we'll be doubling up on the podcast this week: breaks at the front end with Colombo and some disco house at the back courtesy of San Francisco's Ma Yeah. Press play. Enjoy. 

A native of Malaga and formerly one half of BSD (BASS STAR DOS), Colombo wrote his first dance track in 1999 at the tender age of 17. Following stints with Reflex Musik, Starsing Records and Dubplate Records (2003 through 2007), the young Spanish producer joined forces with iBreaks in 2009 and quickly established himself as the label's brightest star.

Orebeat & Yankee - This Is Top Vol.9

In 2006 Jimmy Mofo started the Beat Assassins along with Joe Lenzie, they became a fundamental part of the Breaks scene and won various awards. They spent the early days as a duo touring various parts of the world and created their own record label Mofo Recordings as an outlet to release music.

In 2010 Jimmy & Joe amicably parted ways. As the ever popular breaks scene started dying down Jimmy moved onto a Trap / Grime project with DJ Sai called Koshii.

In 2016 Jimmy went back to his roots and started producing drum n bass music under the Beat Assassins name.
