Dance denso

Another solid release on the loud & noisy São Paulo-based label LoveDogs in the pipeline: Argentinian DJ and producer Agustin Basile aka Basileus presents “Cosmo Wanderer”, his debut EP, by the way, featuring two well-constructed originals and a frenzied remix made with love by Vasconcellos.

After presenting himself to the Indie Dance/Dark Disco community with “Katabasis”, a single released on Logia Records’ Take It series, Basileus keeps showcasing proper production skills in this second adventure of his.

Premiered here, “Apogeo” is a sober and trippy – but definitely vivacious – modern Indie Dance cut that efficiently encompasses the main elements which characterize such a genre: A fat bassline, a guitar-like riff, and arpeggiated synth layers. Definitely a piece that deserves to be tested on crowded dance floors.

Nothing Is Real jumps into the summer season with a different sound shaped EP coming from the talented Stuttgart based dj and producer Banali, which includes 2 brilliant remixes by the Mexicans Zombies In Miami and the German Jakob Mäder.

Banali’s debut solo outing opens up with the title track ‘Call Into The Void’’, a moody and muscular take on dubby electronic music that gradually builds tension and suspense throughout its almost seven-minute duration. The track is followed up soon after with a stellar remix from the mighty Mexican producers, Zombies In Miami, who bring the distorted and trippy synths to the foreground while decorating the track with additional percussions, effects and melodies. The result retains the driving momentum of the original while viewing Banali’s productions through a beautifully cosmic-disco perspective.

The EP’s second track ‘Waiting’ demonstrates Banali’s experimental spirit, as tricked-out sequencer arp and uncanny MIDI instrumentation compete for the listener’s attention. This is a truly original and mesmerizingly unique piece of electronic music, and proves that the producer has more than a few tricks up his sleeve. The Third track ‘Catch A Shadow’ wants to confirm the dubby-fingerprint of Banali’s productions with a main synth who drives into dark pads, twisted bassline and rolling drums.

Finishing off the release is the body-mover remix of the main track by Jakob Mäder, which slowly builds a head-nodding rhythm from chunky snares, punchy kicks and skittering hi-hats before a resonant bass wobble that bring us back to that new wave edge listeners associate with Nothing Is Real.

Alvaro Cabana, long time established producer and Rotten City Records founder teams up with latin american artist Balam, Mijo, Fargo Deviati, Julian Sanza & LaFrench Toast to present his Psicoactive EP on Kaputt.wav.

Affaire Tropical made with Argentinian mastermind Balam, blends the strident rhythm and synths of Alvaro with the melting trippiness of Balam, followed by Fargo Devianti, up and coming producer from Mexico which has already done a name by himself while also counting with Mijo who coined the name od Tech Mex long time ago, Ritual De Lo Habitual it’s just what anyone could expect, a peak hour transient trance. Slowing down a bit, Alvaro Cabana & Julian Sanza, which are already known in Kaputt.wav as a winning team showcases in Second Hand Mirrors why. And last but now least, Alvaro teams up with a long time DJ and producer from Colombia called LaFrench Toast with “Mazmorra” a driven, synthfreak anthem for the dance room.
