ELECTRO

This is our contribution to a charity compilation of electronic music, raising money & awareness for Médecins Sans Frontières.
 
Médecins Sans Frontières - also known as ‘Doctors Without Borders’ - is an impartial, independent, and neutral organisation that provide medical and humanitarian aid wherever needed, across the globe.

With the current civil war in Syria, much of the media focus has been on the political aspects, often forgetting the tens of thousands of victims and refugees.  Médecins Sans Frontières, and their volunteers, are still on the ground in the region providing aid.

It is available on a 'pay what you choose' basis - you can download for free or any amount you decide at http://balkanvinyl.bandcamp.com, and we will donate here (and claim gift aid) on your behalf or you can go to http://www.justgiving.com/musicsansfrontiers and donate directly (and also leave a message if you wish).
 
All profits go directly to MSF. All of the artists have contributed their music for free.
Although Balkan Vinyl usually concentrate on physical releases, this compilation is entirely digital to ensure as much money as possible goes to charity.

Music Sans Frontiers (English spelling of ‘Frontiers’ deliberate) was chosen as the name, as the compilation does not stick to one genre of music (unlike the ‘Acid Relief’ compilation in 2011, which focussed mainly on TB303-led music) and instead we asked the artists to contribute tracks with no restrictions on style.

Wie in jeder Musikrichtung gibt es auch im elektronischen Bereich Tracks, an denen kommt man nicht vorbei. Sie entwickeln einfach eine Dynamik, verbreiten sich lauffeuerartig durch die Szene und polarisieren natürlich auch. Von diesen Tracks lieferte https://soundcloud.com/oliverrado gleich mehrere. Die Remixe von „All of me“ von Angus und Julia Stone und auch „Stand up“ von Hindi Zhara sind wohl noch jedem im Ohr. Das Sympathische bei diesem Künstler ist, dass er sich nicht, als die Diskussion um Remixe und Edits hochkochte, auf die eine oder andere Seite schlug. Auch die reflexartige Distanzierung von Remix-Frühwerken, wie bei einigen Künstlern zu beobachten, unterblieb bei Oliver. 

Stattdessen bewies er auch die Fähigkeit zu erstklassiger selbst produzierter Musik mit zahlreichen Eigenproduktionen. So releaste er zahlreiche Tracks auf den Labels Be Free und Tach&Nacht. Auf letzterem gerade vor wenigen Monaten die EP „Minas“. Sein Sound, der immer wieder melancholische mit sphärigen Elementen verknüpft, ist unverkennbar. Dies beweist er auch immer wieder, wenn er  an den Decks steht, denn Oliver ist auch als DJ und Veranstalter bekannt. Und das weit über die Grenzen seiner Heimatstadt Hamburg hinaus. 

Das Besondere an dem Künstler Oliver Rado ist, dass er eben diese Emotionalität in seine Musik einfließen lassen kann, da sie in den meisten Belangen seines Lebens sein größter Antrieb ist. Wir fanden diesen Aspekt sehr spannend, und baten ihn, ein Interview der besonderen Art mit uns zu führen. Nämlich eines, welches für die Antworten ohne Worte sondern nur mit Bild und Ton auskommt. Frei nach dem Motto „Ein Bild sagt mehr als tausend Worte“, kam dabei ein Ergebnis heraus, welches die Antworten sehr gefühlvoll und intensiv darstellt.

Kraut is the new moniker of Amsterdam’s household name Daniel Zuur. With this new alter ego he’s bound to bring his audience a flux of world music influenced electronica, different tempo’s and lots of live percussion.
Daniel has been a staple in the Amsterdam club scene since 2009. His unique sound and organic mixes have earned him a name in the alternative electronic music scene, as his sets have been attributed to being melancholic, dynamic but above all, deeply melodic.
Kraut has continued producing and played live at national clubs and festivals such as: Transformatorhuis, Warehouse Elementenstraat, OT301 and Valrave Festival.
