"Quasar"

"3C 273 is the brightest quasar in the heavens, and consequently a very famous object in astrophysics. At a distance of about 2×10^9 light-years, 3C 273 is located in the far cosmological background of the southern extension of the Virgo galaxy cluster. It is very bright across all wave bands from radio to gamma. Quasar 3C 273 was discovered in 1959 as a radio source by the 3. Cambridge Radio Survey (3C)."

"One of the most striking features of 3C:273 is a single jet, emerging from the galactic centre - extending 23" to the SW. Structures and changes inside the jet have been well studied through all wavelengths."

"New investigations on the central black-hole of 3C 273 was undertaken by ESO´s Very Large Telescope GRAVITY Collaboration, which were published in 11/2018. As the result, the supermassive black-hole has an inferred mass of about 300 million solar masses (2.6 ± 1.1 ×108 MSo). In addition, the radius of the accretion disk was determined as 150 ± 40 light days, or 0.13 pc."

The Roland Jupiter 4, available in 1978 to 1981, it was a 4 voice polyphonic analog synthesizer. The JP-4 was known for a raw electronic tone, a sound found very similar to their 1970s SH model instruments. The JP-4 was Roland's first polyphonic instrument, and also, the first model to incorporate an arpeggiator feature.

"Fessenden's Broadcast"

Reginald Fessenden and the radio... he was famous for his self-made radio broadcasts, he had created the world's first voice and music transmission using radio waves, and this across the Atlantic Ocean on December 24, 1906.

"Reginald Aubrey Fessenden — or Reg, as he was known — was born in Quebec in 1866. He was the son of an Anglican minister, a lover of cats and he grew up to have the stature of a Viking. He also invented the first wireless system of transmitting speech. But he's been overshadowed by others, including fellow radio pioneer Guglielmo Marconi."

"Imagine being one of the workers on a boat in 1906 sailing across the ocean at night; waiting around the wireless, which you've heard playing dots and dashes. Suddenly, for the first time in history, a voice comes over the air: Reginald Fessenden introducing a recording of Handel's Largo, a Bible reading and a little fiddle music. It must have been hard to believe what they were hearing."

"Heroes of Noir"

"Film Noir may be characterized by the use of black and white, the use of low key lighting, close-ups, abstract angles and deep-focus of shooting. In both artistic movements, we are faced with characters that have a dark, evil side to them.  The narrative in Film Noir is often delivered through the medium of flashbacks, and a large portion of the plot takes place at night, predominantly when it is raining. Finally, the most common thematic plot points are the detective, the femme fatal, and an investigation into a crime; a crime that tends to be a murder."

"Film Noir emerged in the 1940’s in America, heavily influenced by German Expressionism. Common tropes that appear in both Film Noir and Expressionism are the repetitive crime drama, and romances with the sense of skepticism and paranoia. These are underpinned by the use of sharp lines and deep shadows to accentuate the sets."

○ This Soundcloud page is an electronic music archive dedicated to Ikutaro Kakehashi and his life work. A recognition to the many electronic musical instruments that Mr. Kakehashi and the Roland Corporation had invented, their dedicated work created a revolution in music making technology.

○ Note: all of the electronic music instruments used in the making of this music were from the Roland Corporation; they were used exclusively in producing the timbre and sound-effects of the music. These Roland synthesizers included both early analog and modern digital synthesizer models, such as, the SH-5, System 100, Jupiter 4, or the Alpha-Juno, JV-1080 and the JD-800, among several others.

○ Any other music equipment of a different manufacturer's name served only to control pitch and articulation of the various Roland synthesizers.

○ Final sound modification came from off-board effects units, mainly reverb, delay and chorus, and these were all Roland equipment, except for only a few.

* (Note: in the studio photo images the Korg Prophecy keyboard functioned only as a secondary midi controller and the Synthesizers.com sequential controller, model Q960, was used for processing only control-voltage, trigger and gate information; they provided no audio output)

○ The music compositions were all improvised, live recordings, including earlier works that were recorded using a multi-track midi software: Opcode's Studio Vision.

○  These music works  are unedited audio tracks that are available for download as high fidelity wave files.
