BLOODGROUP - LINES (KEEP SHELLY IN ATHENS REMIX)

LA GRANDE BELLEZZA

1986 darkwave, minimal electro band from Rochester, New York. The lineup was James Tabbi (vocals, acoustic guitar), Jeff Gallea (bass, drum programs, vocals, keyboard), Jack Schaefer (electric guitar) and Dan Brumley (synths, samples, vocoder, melodica). They released the "Bas Relief" LP in 1986, only 500 silkscreened and hand numbered copies of the record were made which are now extremely sought after by minimal synth enthusiasts. This gem has a wonderful low-tech warm driving synth sound that is infectious. The vocals are haunting and the bass lines remind of Joy Division. Almost every song is killer dark post-punk or electronic synth wave. They seemed to take cues from Echo and the Bunnymen, early New Order, Fad Gadget, and Depeche Mode. Songs like Watching Trees, Tears and Cinnamon, Portugal, Ignorant Father, and Temporal deserve to be heard. Timeless."

Giorgio Moroder - Racer (2013)

Electrobelle are Charlotte Sanderson (vocals) and Barry Mallon (electronic instruments). They were introduced in the autumn of 2007 by mutual friend and producer J P Braddock. 

Shortly afterwards they wrote and recorded Mirrorball. Mirrorball generated a huge amount of interest for the band, especially in Greece, which amounted to them almost signing a record deal with Athens based Undo Records. 

Mirrorball subsequently appeared on the EY VOL 1.0 compilation CD, considered by some to be the modern equivalent of the Some Bizarre Album, and on the EMI sampler CD titled 'Blind' alongside tracks by Kylie Minogue and Roisin Murphy.

Since then they have collaboratively produced meaningful 'authentic' synthpop that is instantly accessible, contemporary yet comfortingly familiar. 

Electrobelle are currently working towards a new EP to be released this autumn.
