Following on from the album we are producing for Anne Rouse, we have released a new single that will be part of it, entitled "Echoes of Saudade", in a demonstration of the artist's affection for the Portuguese, since our label is Portuguese and the word 'Saudade' is exclusive to our vocabulary. It's time to introduce ourselves and explain how we operate. The Synthwave Electroclash Club (TSEC) is a music label conceived and founded in Coimbra, Portugal. On a night of concerts, three individuals came together: Carlos Rodrigues (STREETEMPTY), Agostinho Lopes (Downtown Space) and Sandro Oliveira (ZORGVOLTS). During this interaction, Carlos shared his vision of creating a music label in partnership, revealing that there was a favorable environment for such an initiative. The enthusiasm was immediate, and so, in the summer of 2019, the idea came to fruition.
Agostinho Lopes, located in the United States, has a recording studio where artists and bands can record their music. While some artists choose to record their tracks independently and then send them to us, others come to us for the mixing, production and mastering process. This part of the work is carried out by Carlos Rodrigues and Sandro Oliveira, while the studio recordings are done by Agostinho Lopes.
Today, despite the distance between us - Carlos has returned to his hometown (Alcácer do Sal), while Agostinho lives in the USA and Sandro Oliveira in Coimbra, Portugal - we maintain a harmonious and effective collaboration. It's worth noting that Agostinho was already living in the USA when we met in Coimbra, being Portuguese by birth. We met in a bar during a visit to his family in Portugal.
During the production process, we also incorporated original compositions with our own touch, using synthesizers. As we are all musicians and producers, we combine our musical knowledge with the artists' authentic work, adding our own personal stamp. The productions are constantly shared between the Atlantic Ocean and Portugal and around the world, so that the artists can also follow the evolution of the work, using the tools of the web. This is how The Synthwave Electroclash Club (TSEC) operates and coordinates its activities.
We would like to sincerely thank everyone who supports our artists, as your support is fundamental to our continuity. Our base is electronic music, and we carefully select who we work with, also looking to sign artists we admire. Although we have been criticized for our diverse portfolio of styles, the truth is that if we chose to restrict ourselves to a single musical genre, we could simply record and release a single track within that same category over and over again, so we would never leave the musical genre. For example, songs like “Lullaby”, “Just Like Heaven” and “Caterpillar”, all by the band The Cure, have only the voice in common, but vary widely in style.
At TSEC, our focus is on art, without limiting ourselves to a single musical genre, although we remain close to the influences that are dear to us. All three members of the label are musicians from the synthwave genre, which has been instrumental in making this journey possible.
