Radio interview on CFNY with Hal Harbor including 3 tracks from the debut self titled E.D.F release in 1989. We would go on to be one of the winners of the contest and added the cd later released by CFNY. They were the greatest in supporting local music.

"Grave Slave" is an old 4-track cassette recording from the early 80's with Pete Sproule on guitar and vocals, Jeff Haynes on guitar and me on keys and drums. I love the the "T-Rex" groove of this song plus that great "Lawrence of Arabia" string sample from my old Akai S-612 Sampler.

I've always loved this song and often wondered why it has never been played on the radio? Another recording from E.D.F Studios from the mid 90's. Fostex A-8 locked up to the trusty old Atari 1040 STE running Notator. It was a solid combination. 

Rainbow In The Rain - Gord Houghton (Phineas Gage)

An 8 track recording from E.D.F Studio's by EAR CANDY. This lineup was the 2nd version of the band. The song was released as a double "A" side 45 vinyl single with Bruce Bentley (playing guitar), James Taylor (lyrics and vocals) and I did the rest.

"Gloria" - Written and produced by long time friend and creative genius, Greg Fraser, first appeared on the debut E.D.F self titled cassette in 1989. This version of the song appeared on Greg's solo release known as "Full Of Future".

Another early recording from the E.D.F.Studio Vaults. This was the theme music to a cabel TV show called "The Tools Of Rock "N" Roll" hosted and produced by Gerry Doyle. John Dawson is playing the lead guitar.

It took me a long time to learn how to record live from the floor, capture a performance and get it sounding right. This beautiful song written and performed by Pete Sproule is a perfect example of "live off the floor recording". We did this back in '97 at my home studio. I think Pete was actually playing in the kitchen

silent GREEN was another side project from the mid 80's with Bruce Bentley on guitar and myself on synthersizers. All of our music was improvised along with live recordings of ambient sounds of nature. The original version of "Euphoria" was 60 minutes long and was released on a cassette that sold in massage & tranquility tank (remember those?) clinics.

This song was a winner in the 1991 CFNY Talent Search. The original music track was written by Rob Stuart and Peter Sproule came up with the lyrics, melody, sang all vocals and played the guitar. I remember hearing the Live Earl Jive play this song a few times on his Saturday morning radio show.

A musical montage in Memory of Bruce Bentley.

I recently heard some sad news that an old bandmate and friend, Bruce Bentley had passed away peacefully in his apartment in downtown Toronto. Bruce and I bonded over our fanatical love of music and shared the same, slightly warped sense of humour. We quickly formed a friendship and eventually became bandmates forming the 80's synthpop band "Ear Candy" as well as an add-lib ambient group we called "Silent Green", and wrote the odd piece of music for TV, Radio commercials and jingles.

Bruce was one of the most gifted guitar players I have ever had the pleasure to work with. He was also a prolific song writer, singer and producer. His fingers would glide over that fret board with such simplistic ease finding the strangest, unique chord or lead line that would work so beautifully in the songs we wrote together.

I've dug up some old recordings, some of which are Bruce's own home demo's, our "add-libbed" "Silent Green" cassette recordings and others recorded at The Forest Studio in Scarborough, Ontario by producer/engineer and third original Ear Candy member, Eric Kofler, all back in the early to mid 80's. 
Although I have'nt been in touch with Bruce for at least 20 years, I know he was dealing with life's struggles and battling with some demons. I will always remember the music we made together with fond and loving memories.
