APEX PREDATOR

In the corners, shadows grow long—
Time licks the wounds of forgotten gods,
And here, beneath the cracked mirror, I remember...

A thousand stories stitched together with cobwebs,
Hollow voices carved in the backs of broken chairs.
The whispers tell me I was once a king,
A ruler of nothing, buried in dust.

Feet, cold and restless, tread on the silence—
But there is no earth to touch, only smoke and stone.
The hands I held, once alive, are now ash in my mouth.
What did I drink, what did I swallow?
A history of decay wrapped in the skin of the now.

Hunger howls in the ribs of a fading star,
What path is there when the sun no longer stirs?
We dance in dark circles, forgetting the names of the dead—
And the clocks are broken, tick-tock-silence—
Losing the war we never fought.

This is the poetry of bones, etched on walls,
Fingers slip between them, tracing the lines of lost saints.
Where do they go, those who vanish in the dust?
They whisper, they scream—but it's the same silence that answers.

So I wait, arms outstretched, mouth open—
For something to crack, for the stars to fall—
But they don't, they won't. Not tonight.
The room breathes but it does not live.
