Grim Beazley https://soundcloud.com/grimbeazley is back with his second EP on Laib Und Seele Records after being featured on Eris Drews’ mix for Apple Music. This time the stellar Melbourne artist packs two original tracks and a collaboration with friend DJ Bert, forming Jerk Traffic.
The EP kicks off with the untitled Jerk Traffic tune; a five-and-a-half-minute mind-bending dancefloor crusher. The track opens with a hypnotic pad layered over a minimalist and trippy synth line. A broken kick drum pattern carries the intro to an end, bringing a soundscape with dark yet melodic synths supported by clever percussion.

The second track, Ramloysphere, focuses on a four-to-the-floor kick drum rhythm and an emotional, almost floating melody. The overall vibe moves toward a more atmospheric direction, yet it doesn't lower the energy level in any way. From dark pads to high and colorful tips, the nearly seven minutes spanning tune whisks the listener away into a euphoric dreamscape.

A dreamy feeling continues in the last work of the EP, Mindcushion. The bright, atmospheric track leans towards happy memories of happier times. With rhythmic elements entering and leaving, it gives hope and perspective on a beautiful future to come.

PREMIERE: Grim Beazley - Mindcushion [Laib und Seele Records]

Paris-based producer and CEO of emotional breakbeat Adam BFD joins the Shall Not Fade family with six emotive tracks, all driven by cinematic ambience.

The past two years have been non-stop for Adam BFD. This release represents his fourth full-length EP of the year, with previous ones finding a home on Lobster Theremin. He’s proven himself as a true storyteller, creating music which through melody reveals at once a level of introspection and an outward-facing expression of emotion that will resonate with almost any listener. Innervisions is no different, constituting what might be his most candid record yet.

Made over the course of lockdown, Adam’s contemplative mood shines through on the record’s A-side. The first two tracks capture breaks at their most meditative potential with a lofi quality and a long, pad-driven interlude (‘I’ve Been Waiting’) and assertive kickdrums that punch beneath a wistful melody (‘Sonar’). ‘What’s Next’ is the EP’s only ambient track which cruises along pulseless via a metallic earworm melody that glistens on an iridescent surface. With reverberating claps, a warm bassline and subaquatic synths, the title track opens a door to hope: a sentiment which will stick around on the record’s B-side, as is demonstrated by ‘M1 & 1’. Although, it is left up to the listener whether this melody speaks more to feelings of ease of melancholy. On the closing track ‘In My Feels’, however, there is nothing left to debate. An immersive soundscape leaves things on a triumphant note.
