Paris-based producer and CEO of emotional breakbeat Adam BFD joins the Shall Not Fade family with six emotive tracks, all driven by cinematic ambience.

The past two years have been non-stop for Adam BFD. This release represents his fourth full-length EP of the year, with previous ones finding a home on Lobster Theremin. He’s proven himself as a true storyteller, creating music which through melody reveals at once a level of introspection and an outward-facing expression of emotion that will resonate with almost any listener. Innervisions is no different, constituting what might be his most candid record yet.

Made over the course of lockdown, Adam’s contemplative mood shines through on the record’s A-side. The first two tracks capture breaks at their most meditative potential with a lofi quality and a long, pad-driven interlude (‘I’ve Been Waiting’) and assertive kickdrums that punch beneath a wistful melody (‘Sonar’). ‘What’s Next’ is the EP’s only ambient track which cruises along pulseless via a metallic earworm melody that glistens on an iridescent surface. With reverberating claps, a warm bassline and subaquatic synths, the title track opens a door to hope: a sentiment which will stick around on the record’s B-side, as is demonstrated by ‘M1 & 1’. Although, it is left up to the listener whether this melody speaks more to feelings of ease of melancholy. On the closing track ‘In My Feels’, however, there is nothing left to debate. An immersive soundscape leaves things on a triumphant note.

CRUISE is a Moscow-based night that focuses on 90s finest — old school hip-hop, garage house, breakbeat hardcore and jungle. Every once in a while local vinyl enthusiasts, artists and radio hosts from Wax Ninja crew (Artem Xio, Foxxylove and MB4) and Tiger Balms crew (Skye, Fine) gather nostalgic music lovers so that they can cruise through different BPMs and genres in a home-like atmosphere.

This release is the essence of CRUISE captured on tape: 15 tracks from crème de la crème of Russian underground scene. A full-scale journey into the sound of drum machines, analog synths, obsure samples and what not; a heart-warming homage to music from New York, New Jersey, Chicago, Detroit, London, Manchester, Essex, Bristol and different cities across Italy.

N-Tone, Maxi Skratch and Luge are there with their beats and scratches; HI TOP and Osipenko Bus Stop (Ant To Be when he makes jungle) deliver some proper UKG; Keroz and DJ 0000 (DJ 1985’s alter ego) are going deep and melodic; Cream Soda, BRTS, Scruscru & S.Timoshenko and Heavy Blunt fill this tape with house bangers; Artem Xio, Mix Master Kutyma, FTRRLT alongside Amsterdam native Reactor Grits do breakbeat and drum’n’bass. And don’t forget about the funny skits that turn this compilation into an 90s style album that tells a story.
