Claptone steps out of the shadows once again with ‘The Music Got Me’, an exciting new offering from the mysterious enigma with the golden mask. 'Music Got Me' by Claptone is an authorised cover version of 'Music Got Me' by Visual which has been approved and licensed by Unidisc the rights holder.

As you would expect of new Claptone, 'The Music Got Me’ is destined for late nights and packed clubs all over, such are the enchanting powers of this otherworldly beast. However this one goes further still. The achingly cool 80s NYC disco/postpunk flavour combines with a distinct Chicago bassline to offer an exciting glimpse of the eclectic, indie vibe of his debut artist album (slated for release later this year on Different Recordings – the label that launched the careers of Crystal Castles, Tiga, Crystal Fighters, Vitalic).  

Claptone’s last two releases ‘No Eyes’ and ‘Ghost’ both topped the Beatport charts, the latter of which featured Clap Your Hands Say Yeah! (a collaboration we can only assume was arranged by some sort of séance). They went on to become enormous smashes on Berlin house label Exploited, earning the plaudits of the biggest DJs and setting Claptone off on a non-stop DJ tour across the globe.

It’s remarkable that the masked man has still found time in his tour schedule to deliver big remixes for the likes of Metronomy, The Pet Shop Boys, Rüfüs, Klaxons and Gregory Porter & more!

‘Dear Life’ is the next chapter for Claptone and the second glimpse of his first full-length set for release in Autumn 2015. The mysterious enigma with the golden mask has gone from strength to strength of late, following an acclaimed BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix, a Beatport chart-topping smash remix of Gregory Porter and an incredible live show at the Miami Ultra Music Festival.
 
The single breaks new ground for Claptone as he delves deeper into songwriting. This time he is reunited with French singer Jaw (1/3 of production trio dOP) with whom he previously worked on ’No Eyes’, a big record for him back in 2013 on the notorious Berlin House label Exploited. In the new offering ‘Dear Life’ Claptone has created a spellbinding dance floor ready anthem that’ll sound just as good on your home stereo.

The masked figure recently shared teaser 'The Music Got Me', the first taste of the album and a track which went on to reach the top 5 on Beatport’s deep house chart, as did B-side Forest of Love. For the club heads, Claptone and Jaw deliver a second cut ‘Secret Lover’, a track packed with raw funk and a highlight of his recent Essential Mix.

Track of the Day: Dario D’Attis “Breaks for Peace”

Miami born turntablelist & producer, Jesse Perez, throws down a booty shaking killer house jam for Edible’s fourth release.  “What You Say About My Momma” has been ripping up dancefloors for months since landing in Eats Everything’s hands, so it’s a welcome release on the label, backed with a deadly remix from Truncate.

On the Original Mix, Perez grinds out a funky and low-slung groove, its memorable vocal hook looping and chopping from side to side as the raw MPC beats and sub bass weave their magic.  

Truncate brings his no nonsense and direct approach on the remix, carving out a Dance Mania style drum workout over the cut up vox (think Robert Armani meets Armand Van Helden).  Truncate has been a hugely dependable producer for yonks via his trax on his own Truncate label as well as mixes for Jimmy Edgar, Shlomi Aber and KiNK, and he does not disappoint here.

Perez wraps up the EP with ‘Boogie Down Brown’, another slab of funk laden house goodness, blending high tension strings and rolling drums to great effect.

Perez has been firing out infectious house jams for labels like BPitch, DJ Sneak’s I’m A House Gangster and Hot Creations, for some time now, as well as working his own label Mr. Nice Guy, so it’s a welcome addition to the Edible roster for Jesse Perez.

"One For Me”, originally released on Defected/Azuli back in 2011 with huge support from worldwide DJs inc. Pete Tong (on BBC Radio 1), Tiesto, Franky Rizardo, David Guetta, EDX, Copyright & more. "One For Me" is essentially a high energy feel good house vibe, with a hypnotic bass line & piano. When you add the amazing vocals of Max C (you know him, the guy who sang Axwell’s 'I Found You') and rising UK based DJ & Producer Ben Rainey on remix duties it will certainly keep those winter blues at bay.

Previously, the talented duo of James Talk & Ridney (both from Southampton) teamed up to give us their anthemic hit 'Forever' (for Defected) which sampled 'Fantasy' by Earth Wind & Fire, an Essential New Tune for Pete Tong.

Their remixes have enjoyed huge success too, for artists including Rae, Ghosts of Venice & Roy Davis Jr (the later of which was one of the highest selling tracks on Beatport on Defected for that year).
