Juicebox Music's 75th release sees another revisitation of one of our biggest releases from last year - Chaum & Hobin Rude's EP featuring "Cressida" & "Mesec", now with remixes by Tonaco and Anton Borin & Montw. The original EP, released in August 2023, was a special project between Angelos Moustai and Ogden Cerovic, lending their absolute strengths into this collaboration. The release saw massive support across the board culminating in "Cressida" being featured on Beatport's "Best of Progressive 2023" chart towards the end of the year.

Brazil's talented star - Tonaco, makes his label debut through a fantastic remix of Chaum & Hobin Rude's "Cressida". Better known to his friends and family as Marcus Oliveira, Tonaco made a steady and respectable climb through the industry with strong productions in each release he put out, more notably on GMJ & Matter's 'meanwhile', Tripswitch & Steve Marx's 'onedotsixtwo' and Mango's 'Mango Alley'. For his remix of "Cressida", Tonaco shifted gears and aimed straight for the jugular with a strong & heavy groove, hypnotic pads, glistening synths and an ode to the original melody in style.

Returning to the label for their 2nd appearance is the dynamic Russian duo of Anton Borin & Montw with a spellbinding remix of Chaum & Hobin Rude's 'Mesec'. They made their debut on Juicebox Music through a 2-track EP featuring "Obsidian" & "Firebird" back in late 2023, a juxtaposed pair that showcased their creative & technical skills. Shining as individual producers as well as together, Anton Borin & Montw's deliver every time and their rendition of Chaum & Hobin Rude's 'Mesec' is no less. An addictive low-slung groove with trippy percussive work, unpredictable synth-lines and re-interpreting the original material makes this truly special.

Astral Records opens the month of March by welcoming Emiliano Demarco & Maxi Vega to the label for their debut EP. Hailing from Argentina, both Emiliano and Maxi have achieved measurable success in their respective solo careers. Both approaching a decade's worth of production credits, Emiliano and Maxi have been producing a mesmerizing blend of melodic house and techno from their Buenos Aires based studios. As occasional production partners the duo have combined their extensive forces for releases via Eleatics Records, Future Romance and Sequence Music, amongst others, while also receiving support from 8kays, Coeus, Massano,Oostil and Tale of Us. Now, continuing to build on their creative partnership, Emiliano and Maxi add Astral Records to their resume with a three track showcase entitled ‘Triton'.

Emiliano and Maxi continue to explore their astral style on the lead selection 'Triton'. Fluid and energetic throughout, it's a framework of punchy kick drums and rippling basslines which lay the foundation for flashing percussion, crunchy rhythms and striking stabs to create an otherworldly vibe. Icy pads and panning arps emerge across the main break, adding a dose of character and emotion into the mix, bringing with them uplifting tones, as a pitch-shifting narrative perfectly sets the course for a rousing crescendo and electric peak time finale.

The hypnotic foray 'Saturn' follows and further cements the duo's dancefloor minded ethos. Its rippling drive is anchored by powerful beats and a clever coax of vibrant percussive; nicely accented with sci-fi vocal samples and wonky chord stabs to tie it all together. A prophetic off-kilter narrative proves to be the most enchanting element however, tastefully building to a darker monochrome across the main break, before further vocal manipulation and hopeful sonics prelude a warped build and chunky drop, one which will bring life to even the most discerning of dancefloors.

The third and final selection finds Emiliano and Maxi crafting a similarly club-effective cut entitled ‘Felina'. Sitting as the most elusive sounding of the three, its titanium kick drums and meditative pulse build copious amounts of energy, as astral stabs steal the air, while rhythms ripple and driving percussion flows forward. A trance-inspired vocal shifts the mood leading into the break, bringing with it a unique balance of the past and present, pushing onwards to a finale of boisterous stabs and edgy designs that would be equally at home above a festival skyline, or sitting in the sweet spot of a main room set.

All in pressurized volatility and steel-clad punch, the lead single unfolds a contrasted sequencing, swinging moods and rhythms as the bass-heavy pressure makes itself more menacing with every bar. From a stealth, passive-aggressive early buildup to a fun-loving second half focussing on the epicness of the gated vox chatter and elastic synthwaves, Lampé serves up an absolute treat of a peak-time weapon, zeroed in on submerging dance floors with its powerhouse engineering of uptempo drive and cavernous punch.
In the producer's own admission a track built to ease the raver from a nightly scenario into a sun-drenched setup, 'Pressurized' oscillates "between dark and bright with a hypnotic and easy groove". Percolating a zesty mix of heavy-traction electro swagger and industrial techno gone astray, the track shifts gears with seamless panache, stacking up energy to better fire it back across the room. A choice first transmission that astutely surfs the edge between total club sweep-up and playful 90s-style exhalations.
