Our Diversions series explores the diverse processes and influences that manifest during the remix process. Each release presents fresh takes on the label’s original productions by both XYZ stalwarts and newcomers alike. This series is a chance to connect artists from across the musical spectrum in the pursuit of unique and unexpected tracks.

Panthera Krause is a unique figure within dance music, with a sincerely warm energy and ear for timeless grooves. Through directing one of the most forward-thinking imprints in Europe, Leipzig-bred Riotvan, Krause has fostered a sound brimming with electro, disco, and punk influences. His house-centric productions have distinct flair for peak-time character; his smash hit, Birthday Club, was easily the song of the summer in 2019. For his debut on XYZ, he’s connected with Ian O’Donovan’s Sun. Panthera’s signature driving bassline rides the classical synth touches from Ian’s original for a dancefloor killer.

In November 2010, we released Kollektiv Turmstrasse’s "Rebellion der Träumer“ - a timeless album with a major impact on both the artists and on us, the label. It was a big success in every direction and even now after 10 years, the album still is a milestone. Reason enough for us to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the two German northener's debut album both with a long awaited repress of the double vinyl, as well as a fresh round of remixes.

The repress comes in three versions: A regular repress in black vinyl, a limited version in red vinyl and a third version featuring something very unique. We asked the legendary German illustrator duo Bringmann & Kopetzki, mostly known for their comics Hotze (Groove Mag) and Wild Life (Faze Mag), to "remix" the artwork. This very limited edition will be available exclusively on the Connaisseur Bandcamp page. 

Next to this already rather impressive package, you can expect 9 new remixes which will be released in three different parts over the course of several weeks. 

Part one of "Rebellion der Träumer X - The Anniversary Remixes“ comes with three very different interpretations. Blindsmyth, responsible for the beautiful "Gryllidae“, which was released earlier this year on Connaisseur, has picked "Was Bleibt“ and has brought it to the next level. You can feel the effort Blindsmyth has put into this interpretation in every second of this stunning remix. It really is a worthy kick off for this celebration. 

The next remix is by a project we have been following for a while already. Girls Of The Internet from UK had their debut on Luke Solomon’s famous Classic Music Recordings, followed by several self-released singles, EPs and albums all showcasing the clear musical vision of their project, drawing inspiration from the past 40 years of dance music. Girls’ take on "Affekt“, the opening title of RDT, is a raw and stripped down beauty with a bassline which makes your teeth vibrate. 

The third interpretation on part 1 is actually more a cover-version than a remix. Our Belgian band ELEFAN picked "Goldmarie“, a title which originally  featured the strong voice of Florian Schirmacher, who also participated  in the production of the original back in the days. ELEFAN completely replayed the song and also covered the vocals. The result exhales a lovely and airy tenderness, even though the bottom is driving and bold.

"With the colder seasons ahead, Infinite Depth is up to its 21th EP. The originals of this EP are provided by the talented Italian Aree. The title track is called 'Domino', which forms the fundament of this collection of tracks. To this collection the Dutch Rowdy added his characteristic sound by creating a remix of the third track of the EP.

As mentioned before the title track 'Domino' forms the fundament of the EP. This fundament you can hear in the form the icy synth hovering around the kick, which provokes a mysterious feeling. Overall the track is stripped, but all elements are firmly present and forming an interesting composition. A composition to build on.

One of these extensions on this base is the second track, called 'Radial Rays'. The track is a spectacle of dark elements appearing and disappearing out of nothing. Through these elements a continuous spirit is flowing, which drags you through the track. The arrangement is kept restrained, but compelling at the same time and carries on the unique feeling of this EP.

This brings us to 'Concentric Circles', the third track of the EP. It will bring you in a dreamy state of mind, right at the center of two circulating synths. Throughout the track, these synths are surrounding you more and more, like two concentric circles.

In his remix, Rowdy managed to maintain this dreamy atmosphere, while providing it with his characteristic unyielding lower part. The rock solid kick in combination with the classical influences and raw distinctive elements are forming a great final to this constantly expanding EP."
