Welcome to this Atmospheres episode curated by Bålsam

Originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota, Anthony Asher-Yates approached ambient music when he moved to Colombia, being inspired by the diversity of the ecosystems that exist in this region. Known for taking his listeners deep into the tropical rainforest, Bålsam has conjured up a dream world surrounded by nature. Anthony's music is composed by field recordings he does during his walks though the mountains where he now lives with partner Nina Nativa and his daughter.

E.M.C. is delighted to present the last guest of 2021. Welcome to Sanjib!

Lyon-based (FR) artist, Sanjib always guides listeners into an authentic and richly textured world between ambient and dub-techno. Eager to share electronic music focused on emotions, he creates a universe dedicated to travel and introspection with his mixes. After several EP’s released on @lett-records, Sanjib produced his first album "From Earth to Heaven" in 2018, a smooth and poetic techno opus warmly acclaimed by the public. His works appeared on Stellar Transitions, @preceptco, @crescent-london, and, more recently, @oslated.

Berlin-based musician, designer and explorer, Faru crafts drone and ambient music from his nature recordings from around the world. His works have been described as a natural orchestra in a dream-like manner. Exploring movements of nature, noise and harmonics. Titled like the Li Po's poem "In The Mountains On A Summer Day", this is mixtape is a full experience into an alternative oneiric sonic realm.

EMC shapes is back with a brand new mix! This time the contribution comes from Eliza!

Eliza is avid for music and record collecting. You will mostly find her passing the hours trying to find those records that break only music barriers and not the bank. If you know her you know: fun is to be taken seriously. Her music is genreless- age, style, price or popularity really doesn’t matter. If it works for her, it works. Her collection is a potpourri mostly built from music out of the late 80s, 90s and early 2000. Through sharing music online during the last few years she built herself a solid base and started to play her music out in clubs and festivals lately. She is member of the label and event series Rota Bene. Those guys always had a great impact on her musical journey and gave her support and hold from the very beginning. You can expect fun, dance and a good amount of chaos.

Based in Potsdam, Germany, Alex is a music enthusiast and cassette collector with Estonian roots. Founded in December 2010, AudioCompress is an ambient music project by the hungarian artist Gabor Csirmaz. His music combines electronic sounds with acoustic instruments, noises and field recording. Getting inspired by nature and special trips all around the world, Gabor creates audio scenarios and soundscapes full of textures that unveil themselves every time you listen to his mixes. Being well renowned in the ambient scene, AudioCompress performed in festivals such as @ozora-festival as well as relesead his music on labels such as, @exiles-electronics, @free-sequence, @darkheartrecordings, @enoughrec, @attenuation-circuit, @plugandlay, and @radiozora.

Micaela Casella aka E L A is an Argentinian DJ based in Milan. She began her musical journey in 2011 in Córdoba. Returning to her hometown Buenos Aires a few years later gave her the opportunity to get more deeply involved with her beloved Techno through the “Arjaus” School of Electronic Music.
E L A captures ambient soundscapes and subtle grooves full of surprising change. The psychedelic nuances in his selection constantly create innovative atmospheres. Her hypnotic sounds, inviting rhythms and timely transitions define her.

EMC is honored to introduce Joachim Spieth!

Joachim is a German DJ, music producer, and label owner who emerged musically in the late nineties and has since developed a multi-faceted spectrum of sound between the poles of ambient and spherical techno. Characteristic of his work is the attention to detail and a sensitive sensorium for the creation of atmospheres, which one can hardly escape, no matter if this takes place in his studio work or his performances.

After several years of intensive collaboration with @wolfgang_voigt’ s @kompakt imprint, he founded his label, @affin, in 2007, which has been constantly developing ever since and has made a name for itself internationally. As a prolific producer, Joachim has released several albums in the past years such as Irradiance, Tides, Ousia, Terrain, and  Reshape project, which features variations of his music tracks by @alvanoto, ASC, @bvdub_music and others. Together with @markusguentner, Joachim recently started a collaborative project, releasing the Overlay album followed by Overlay Variations in which the two artists use the elements taken from Overlay to to create completely new pieces of music.

With a sundered focus on both calming and engaging sounds, Celadon's selections are best described as a fuse of cradling ambiance and introspection. EMC is excited to introduce the last Shapes episode of 2023! Welcome to Kali!

As a selector, Kali ’s musical style fluctuates around trance infused house, high-speed techno stirred up with breaks and electro. Having started her journey as a dj at queer parties in 2013, Kali soon gained experience in organizing events, always striving to create a safe space for LGBTQI+ people in Budapest. Her mission has always been to reinforce the representation of queer people and womxn in the electronic music scene. She was part of the technosexual party collective of @omohbp. Since 2019 she’s an active member of @persephoneparty a queer feminist collaboration dedicated to showcase FLINTA artists. In the past years Kali had the chance to show her fast-forward style to the audience abroad by playing at the Lecken-OMOH-Persephone after party in Kake, Berlin, heating up the dancefloor before @jakojako_live in Munich’s @harrykleinclub, returning to Zürich’s FLINTA parties organized by GLITBAQ, and bringing her positive energy to Innsbruck’s @arche-ahoi club. This past summer she brought her hi-energy vibes at @daadgathering and the famous @ozora-festival.

Welcome to the first episode of the year of our Shapes playlist! Welcome to Flaw

Flavio aka Flaw had a constant relationship with music, leading him to numerous experiences as a musician and always gravitating towards the world of electronic music. DJ/Selector based in Bologna, Flaw is part of the Girovelle Psicotronice family, playing techno, fresh breakbeat/trance, electro and progressive sounds.

A fusion between past and contemporary, new releases and re-emerged records complement each other by always trying to tell something different, the defined idea of the sounds that he loves does not hinder a continuous and obsessed turnover of his archive. This set reflects this attitude, starting with an atmospheric and syncopated intro, then building a climax that reaches the peak and successively descends down to an introspective ground floor.

A new year, a new chapter for EMC! We start 2024 with a new graphic design and with our first guest for the Atmospheres playlist! Welcome to Lateral Movement!

Originally from Portugal, Ricardo aka Lateral Movement moved to the UK in the nineties for studying. Diving right into the local music culture, effervescent as ever, he meandered effortlessly through genres, taking him deeper into the arts whilst aiding his curiosity, from free jazz to indietronica. Returning to Portugal, Ricardo became a strong supporter of the alternative scenes, embarking on a different kind of journey and took upon himself the responsibility of discovering new music and sharing it with the community. To this day deep techno and its many guises are his passion, especially the deeper and hypnotic realms, where ambience and atmosphere play the main role.

In his musical side he works as a DJ, radio host, promoter and programmer, in clubs and institutions, as well as in radio projects of various kinds, partly from his independent promter cell @a_mal_gam_a, together with @diskoan, or as part of other projects such as @calmamadrid, temple, @radio-relativa or BetaPública Festival at Teatros del Canal, among others.

Davide Perrone (@pianetisintetici) and Gabriele Giuggioli jumped straight into the deep techno scene with their appearance on @hypnus Record. Since then, they've rapidly established themselves through a series of sold-out records on labels such as @kalaharioystercult, @thegodsplanet, and @konstrukt-5. By lacing their unique fusion of modern electronic music with field recordings from their travels, dreams of ancient mysteries start to vibrate in the air. To them, music is the primordial code that unlocks the doors inside of us, which leading into the realms of our imagination.

E.M.C. presents the 60th episode of its podcast series w/ @poisonoise

UK based Deep & Dub Techno lover - have been in the Electronic Music scene for many years - have always been interested in many different forms and styles in the scene but it is the Dubby and warm sounds that reach out to me.

 He started up Poisonoise Music via Soundcloud to feature his own Smoke Rings series which is a weekly set of new and old Dub Techno tracks which he has in his collection. 

Also, back in May 2017 he also started up a guest mix slot on his page which is very successful and is nearing the 100th episode, so he has been very lucky to feature so many talented artists.

EMC stands for Electronic Music Culture. The project was born in 2015 as a web radio and developed into a podcast series, music network, and collective of DJs.

We explore underground electronic music in all its complexity, and our playlists collected more than 100 mixes over the years and is now divided into two main folders: Shapes and Atmospheres.
