Fun projects need to be shared. In this case I like to give away my newest fun project - I did in my free time. Hashtag is a combination of five elements in one track. With the focus on a snare drum roll, a upward pitching part, a melody, a fat baseline and acid elements. Acid in that case means, crazy sounds in a groovy beat. Hope you like it - have fun.

DANIEL PORTMAN's dedication to dark and hard driven offbeat bass lines is not a secret at all. His trademark sounds and bass stabs brought him a loyal and big fan base from all over the world. LOVE TO THE BASS is not only the title track of this EP but also the lifestyle Daniel dedicated his lifework to. Crispy bass lines, combined with clicky and hard pounding kick drums are building the base of the track. Some electro saw synth lines bring in an euphoric and uplifting feeling, as well as the detuned synth stabs and catchy vocal lines. "It's all about the bass, big love to the bass!", are you with us? For those who like it more rough and dark, with LOVE TO THE MINIMAL BASS Daniel created the perfect stripped down peak hour weapon that can be dropped in just any kind of EDM DJ set. PERSIAN NIGHTS offers a lot of oriental influences, that Daniel might have caught up during his extended DJ tours through the eastern asian countries. This track offers a slight psy-trance feel with its resonance kick drums and arpeggio bass lines. There was a moment in time, where The Bearded Man almost live happily ever after. 
While traveling through South East Asia he met a woman. This was no ordinary woman, she was the perfect woman. One that could tame and satisfy the appetite of the bearded man, while leaving him hungry for more. As it usually happens, this true love came suddenly and out of nowhere. He was nursing a Mai Tai at a local warung on the beach while in deep contemplation. He was reflecting on his nasty run in with a Titan Trigger Fish on a free dive earlier that day. He got a little to close to ‘Big Phil’ (as he is known by the local people) and his nest and nearly suffered a fatal poisonous bite. Luckily he had stuck his lucky gold toothpick in his beard earlier that day, and this was his saving grace. He ended up dropping it in the fight and was mourning his loss when she literally fell into his lap after tripping on his fins in the sand. An exotic beauty of tiny stature, and unusually large feet, she was mesmerizing. They never actually spoke a word to each other, but danced to the sound of the waves. At the exact moment that The Bearded Man fell in love, a 20ft wall of water hit them both. As the wave washed them away, she managed to grab a hold of his beard, but to no avail the strands of hair slipped out of her grasp. Later, in therapy, The Bearded Man revealed to his doctor that he blamed himself for losing her. He had been applying extra beard oil to compensate for the drying effects of the salt water which had made it lackluster. He felt that his vanity had caused him to lose her.  
His therapist, Dr. Aaron Scott was so taken by this story of love and loss that he was inspired to write ‘Let Me Dance One Last Time’. The Bearded Man never speaks of her and no longer uses beard oil.

Australian DJ /producer Uone is the next guest to step up for a Balance Selections podcast. Known for his fun and energetic DJ sets, Uone has become a regular on lineups for some of the more upfront global festivals and events. With a sound that initially drew on elements from all genres of the electronic sphere, he has now found his niche in producing and playing deep, chunky and twisted tech house - and it is with this resolve that he has managed to carve out a name for himself on the international circuit.

Raised in Melbourne’s Peninsula Coast, demand for Uone's sets has truly transgressed the borders of Australia with invites to play at Burning Man (Nevada), Fusion (Berlin), Glade (UK), Universo Paraleo (BR), Boom (Portugal), Ozora (HU), Eclipse (AUS), and more recently, the Rainbow Serpent Festival in Australia. He will be returning to Europe and the United States for a string of events over the Northern Hemisphere summer which includes Burning Man in the United States, the Secret Garden Party in the United Kingdom, and the Heinz Label Night in Berlin.

Production-wise, Uone has released a steady stream of dance floor weapons which has led to him being signed with Beef Records and Chameleon Recordings, and his array of deep house and techno tracks has found a home on labels like Katermukke, Heinz, Light My Fire and Tonkind Records.

As Uone celebrates his 15th year of Dj-ing, he delivers a mix that is filled with audible nostalgia as he opts for orchestral melodies and percussive blends that signal to the old and new. Heute präsentiere ich euch einen meiner Lieblings-DJs aus meiner Sammlung. MPathy ist gebürtiger Berliner und einer der tragenden Köpfe hinter Steyoyoke Records.  Aufgewachsen im Berlin der wilden 90er wurde er natürlich ganz früh von elektronischer Musik geprägt. Später verbrachte er ein paar Jahre in Chicago und Shanghai, wo er in die lokale Elektro-Szene eingebunden war. Nach dem Abschluss seines Audio Engineering Studiums kam Marco 2012 zu Steyoyoke Records und es folgten zahlreiche eigene Produktionen und Kooperationen unter anderem mit Florian Rietze, Sasch, BLANCAh und Animal Picnic. Als DJ versteht es MPathy wie kein anderer diesen ganz eigenen und faszinierenden Steyoyoke Sound zu spielen. 

Marco und ich haben uns letztes Jahr dann spontan am Alex auf ein Bierchen getroffen und es gibt so Begegnungen wo man einfach sofort weiß das PASST. Deswegen freut es mich umso mehr, dass er meinen heutigen Geburtstag-Mix eingespielt hat. Marco vielen Dank für dieses überragende und mehr als faszinierende Geburtstag-Geschenk. Und nun wünsch ich euch viel Spaß mit MPathy.

Unsere Nr. 134 kommt heute von einem amerikanischen Künstler, der mich seit 3 Jahren ununterbrochen musikalisch begleitet. Ich erinnere mich noch sehr gut an seine damalige Bunring Man Aufnahme… Sie haute mich schlichtweg um. Seitdem komme ich nicht mehr um Ihn herum. 

Die Rede ist von „Atish“, einem ehrlichen und unkomplizierten Künstler, der keinen geradlinigen Weg ging. Anfangs noch Programmierer für Facebook, entschied er sich vor knapp 10 Jahren selber Musik zu mixen, wie seine unzähligen Mixe belegen. Anders als viele andere Künstler, die gerne ihre so genannte ‚peinliche‘ Anfangszeit verheimlichen möchten, sind bei Ihm tatsächlich noch alle Mixe zum Anhören verfügbar. Dass er damals wie heute seinem Sound gleich geblieben ist, spricht umso mehr für diesen sympathischen Menschen. 

Sein Coming Out hatte er 2012, als er auf dem Robot Heart art-car spielte. Seitdem ging es steil bergauf. Tokio, New York, Istanbul, Berlin,…um nur einige Stationen seines vollgepackten Kalenders zu nennen.

Aber auch in seiner Wahlstadt San Francisco treibt er weiterhin sein Unwesen. Und wie!!! Neben dem etwas anderen Clubformat mit dem Namen ‚Late night tonight!‘, einer Mischung aus Talk-Show und Club Party, gründete er auch das Label ‚Manjumasi‘. 
Und wäre dies nicht schon genug, feilt er in jeder freien Minute an kommenden Releases und Remixen. Tendenz steigend. Sowohl in Qualität, als auch in Quantität. Wir sind gespannt.

Das von Ihm eingespielte Set ist eine herrlich ‚afterhoureske‘ Reise ins Dickicht der melodischen und verträumten elektronischen Musik. Das sich Atish für dieses Set etwas ganz besonderes einfallen lassen hat ist unüberhörbar. Ich war beim ersten Hören des Sets tatsächlich komplett geflasht, hatte ich doch etwas anderes erwartet. Aber diese Überraschungsmomente, die unsere Reihe und die jeweiligen musikalischen Interpretationen immer wieder mit sich bringen, hauen mich, nein uns, immer wieder um. Darauf darf man auch ein wenig Stolz sein. Vor allem wenn man am Ende ein ganz außergewöhnliches Set erhält. So auch hier. Schnallt euch an… Ich kann mich nur wiederholen, aber es erwartet euch eine Reise durch verspielte, sehr deepe und hypnothische Felder, wie gemacht für eine tanzbare Afterhour sind. Das gabs bei uns schon lange nicht mehr….seid gespannt.

Wir danken Dir vielmals für dieses besondere Set Atish. Umwerfend und überraschend gut. Wenn Unikat, dann Hier. Chapeu.
