✈ We are delighted to welcome, for the second time after 4 years, berlin based dj and producer MARY YUZOVSKAYA [Monday Off].         

By way of NYC, Berlin and before that Moscow, vinyl only techno DJ, producer and record label owner Mary Yuzovskaya has been cultivating her unique orbit in the electronic dance music firmament for over 14 years.

Mary solely runs her very own record label called Monday Off, launched in 2017, where she curates and presses work from artists that explore techno's trippier, more hypnotic side. Maintaining the connection with North America, she currently holds a residency at Public Records club in Brooklyn.

Da ich an meinem ersten ComRa Event nicht weiter negativ auffallen will, mache ich mich an die Arbeit. Wie eine emsige Ameise Schultere ich gefühlt mehr Bier als mein eigenes Körpergewicht beträgt und suche mir einen Weg durch die feiernde Meute zu den Theken. Eine Zeit lang erfordert diese Aufgabe meine volle Konzentration, doch bald gehen die Handgriffe über in Routine und mein Kopf bekommt wieder mehr Freiraum um abzuschweifen. Fragen, die ich durch die harte Arbeit erfolgreich verdrängt hatte, bahnen sich ihren Weg in mein Bewusstsein. Was hat es mit den merkwürdigen Daten auf sich, die ich entdeckt habe. Stehen diese vielleicht in Verbindung mit den mysteriösen Angaben die auf den Kapseln gespeichert sind, auf die ich bei der Einlasskontrolle nicht zugreifen konnte? Warum werden überhaupt so viele Daten über die Raver gesammelt? Und von was für einem Tagessoll hat der Mann im „Maschinenraum“ gesprochen?
Während ich wie ein automatisierter Roboter über Tanzfläche laufe und in meinem Kopf über die vergangenen Geschehnisse grübele, stolpere ich über etwas, das am Boden liegt. Plötzlich bin ich mit meinen Gedanken wieder im Hier und Jetzt und erkenne eine Person, die am Boden liegt. Der junge Mann ist völlig verschwitzt und scheint keinen Funken Kraft mehr im Körper zu haben. Die anderen Menschen um uns herum, bemerken den Mann auf dem Boden gar nicht. Sie tanzen weiter wild und ekstatisch. Ich helfe dem Mann auf und erkenne die Person wieder. Wir sind uns schon häufig bei Raves begegnet. Ohne meine Hilfe kann er nicht gehen. Ich bringe ihn an den Rand der Tanzfläche, wo er sich hinsetzen kann ohne zertrampelt zu werden. Langsam kommt er wieder zu Kräften.
Auf meine Frage was denn passiert sei, antwortete er, dass er nicht mehr aufhören konnte zu tanzen. Jeder Track der gespielt wurde, war einfach mitreißend und das Set wurde von Minute zu Minute intensiver. An eine Pause war angeblich nicht zu denken, auch weil immer wieder ComRa Mitarbeiter vorbeigekommen sind, die zum weitertanzen motiviert haben. Irgendwann haben ihm einfach die Kräfte verlassen und er sei zusammengesackt. 
Im nächsten Moment stand Lighter neben uns. „Gut das du so schnell gehandelt hast, ich übernehme ab hier.“ Er beugt sich zu mir herüber und flüstert mir ins Ohr „Da hat wohl jemand zu tief ins Glas geschaut. Ich werde dafür sorgen, dass er Wasser bekommt und dann sicher nach Hause kommt.“ Bevor ich etwas erwidern kann, hilft Lighter bereits dem Gast hoch und redet ihm gut zu. Er geht mit ihm rüber zur nächsten Bar und lässt mich alleine stehen. Mir kommen Zweifel an der Version von Lighter. Der Mann hatte keine Fahne und trank auch ansonsten fast keinen Alkohol. So viel habe ich über den Raver bei unseren bisherigen Begegnungen mitbekommen. Da bin ich mir sicher, auch wenn ich mich nicht an seinen Namen erinnern kann. Warum haben die ComRa Mitarbeiter ihn aufgefordert immer weiter zu tanzen, wenn er doch offensichtlich bereits völlig erschöpft war?

Lost In Ether | Origin Series | Tha Noota

BIO:
Tha Noota started her dj path during the pandemic in 2020. Her purpose was just to listen to her favourite music on a different level and to be able to create her own mixes. After 2 months of learning she got a chance to play in a local club in Olsztyn, where she is based. Since then she plays regularly in her hometown as well as in other polish cities, practicing her skills and widening selection. She's especially bonded with dub techno but she explores deep/hypnotic techno, ambient and house music too. Besides djing she's also actively involved in creating local electronic music scene, organising parties known as Feed Your Soul Events (https://www.facebook.com/feedyoursoulevents). Her aim is to bring less popular music genres, like ambient or experimental, to the small city of Olsztyn.
In the mix for Lost in Ether she tried to combine deep techno tunes in a story that is intended to slowly warm up the listener and encourage him to move.

Massa (@massa), Catalan DJ and producer, is one of the main names in the local Deep Techno scene, his sound is presented as elegant, deep and mental, high level Deep Techno. In 2016 he created the label Hidden Traffic (@hiddentraffic), based in Barcelona through which he publishes in physical format prior to digital and releases fine works by artists such as Deepbass, Ness, Blazej Malinowski, Reggy Van Oers and Massa himself. He performed in classic clubs of the city such as Moog or Laut and released his work on important labels on the international scene such as Affin Records, Oslated and Informa Records among others. A fine mixer, an upright artist and a lover of what he does. * Written by subradio.

Closing set for the first day of performances curated at Castell de Montjuïc for Mostra 22 (@mostrabcn) in Barcelona. The first edition of the Catalan festival gathered a total of 1,000 people along two different locations and four days of musical acts. Among the 26 artists in the line-up that provided high quality avant-garde and experimental electronic sounds.

Also a supremely technically gifted sound technician, Alex creates music for film and television and could never be accused of lacking excitement. Amplifying his skills on every level, he retains the essence of emotional communication that makes his work so engaging.

“People really feel like they’ve got an emotional connection to it,” he says. “I feel like every track that I write has to resonate with me on an emotional level. If I’m not connecting with it and it’s not evoking some kind of feeling in me then why should I expect the listener to feel that too? As we’re all made of the same kind of stuff as it’s resonating with me then hopefully it’s going resonate with other people who are listening to it as well.”

On Nov.12th, Alex piloted a cataclysm of new abrasive sounds with his EP ‘Tephra’, released on Max Cooper’s Mesh imprint. 

The ideas emerged from two months in the rugged, black volcanic surroundings of the Canary Islands, Spain. Banks armed himself with a restricted set of equipment taken from his studio in Brighton and set about focusing on the core of his musical expression.

The 5 track EP draws an abrasive array of intertwined melodic structures - one that could only be formed by an adept sound designers’ skillset. The title track and single ‘Tephra’, is woundingly brash, jagged and skull reverberating, it paints a mental landscape appropriate to where the tracks were born, in the context of a melodic hook line.

Following on from his second studio album, Beneath the Surface which was released on Mesh in 2019. Banks’ reimagines a different story, one of which was sculpted by his time witnessing unearthly volcanic landscapes. The change in scenery he recalls brought a welcomed ‘change of mindset’ than the earlier intense period of locking himself away in his Brighton studio with intermittent bursts of time spent by the coast to foster creative thought. It brought a different intensity to Banks’ sound, one that impressively finds a line between home listening and club-focussed dance-floor bangers.

“Any words I can provide to say how large this release is are a weak reflection of listening to the music. The first time I heard the tracks the energy was just oozing out of them into my torso, and that hook line in Tephra, it's something.
