The Moog Werkstatt-Ø1 is a patchable, 100% analog synthesizer whose design is based on classic Moog circuits. The MF-104M Super Delay  is a 560 piece limited production analog delay based on Moog’s best selling analog delay, the MF-104M. The MF-104M Super Delay features over 1.2 seconds of vintage, analog delay time provided by 6 NOS Panasonic Bucket Brigade chips. The power supply, bias, and rail generating circuitry have all been improved for greater sound quality and reduced microphonics, and an Emphasis/De-Emphasis circuit has been added for reduced noise. Additionally, the delay-loop level matching circuitry from the 500 Series analog delay has been included for maximized feedback and mix stability.

“In 2005, we released the MF-104SD, of which only 250 units were ever produced,” said Cyril Lance, Moog Music Chief Engineer. “The new MF-104M Super Delay utilizes the identical vintage Bucket Brigade chips found in the classic MF-104SD, faithfully delivering a vintage grittiness that's extremely musical,“ said Lance.

The MF-104M Super Delay includes all of the features found in the MF-104M analog delay, including MIDI control of every feature on and under the hood, a 6 Waveshape LFO, tap tempo of delay time and LFO rate, spillover mode, and the traditional short/long delay switch for bright, articulate 50ms-600ms trails, and dark, mysterious 100ms-1200ms trails.

Like all Moogerfoogers, the MF-104M Super Delay is housed in a rugged steel chassis with wood sides and utilizes CV/Expression inputs for external control of Time, Rate, Feedback, Amount, and Mix parameters. A delay feedback Insert is also available for adding external effects to the delay line.

Long Delay Werkstatt

 Printed the Emojis and put the paper down on the floor. Sprawled some water over the sheets and looked where the drops had fallen. Very close together in one column. Emojis number 1F447, 1F449, 1F44E, 1F44F, 1F44C 

The sonic representation of these should also be sonically very close.

So I choosed the highhat voice of a Yamaha RX5 drummachine and created five particles, slightly different in pitch, decay and gate.
Inspired by a text of  Pierre Villez, The Wavehole, the TR808 and the Xenakis Screen,(http://perevillez.wordpress.com/2014/04/25/particle-composition-the-wavehole-and-the-xenakis-screens/) I made the decision to realize the entire composition as a microsound experiment. 

Formed a matrix of 5x48 on the RX5. One bar length with a resolution on 1/48, 5 Emoji particles. Each row a different Emoji-Pattern three times repeated with a brief pause at the end. 
The patterns can be played serial or in parallel. 

When the music starts the Emojis introduce themselves in serial mode. After that they start running in parallel producing a rhythmical texture. When the speed is accelerated from 56 bpm to over 200 bpm the  Emojis loose there individuality and evolve with the help of some reverb into a dynamic soundscape. 
When the speed is reduced back to 56 bpm the individual character of the 5 Emojis shows up again.
In the end I could not help myself to unveil a drum machine at work.

FRB repeater data sonification

Purpose of this track was to show how the Moog Werkstatt can be used for a full production with Ableton Live. Every sound is from the Moog Werkstatt. There are no other soft synths or drum loops used.  Using the Werkstatt as the sound source, I was able to create all drum sounds, bass lines, pads, leads & SFX.

Bluebells (Voice-Note Version)

At Slingshot 2015, a multi-disciplinary celebration of the arts in Athens, Georgia, Moog Music presented a unique synth-building workshop.  Led by Moog Engineer Chris Howe, Slingshot attendees learned the fundamentals of synthesis from the ground up by building their own Werkstatt-Ø1. The Moog Werkstatt-Ø1 is an analog synthesizer kit that anyone can assemble regardless of experience.  

The 12 workshop attendees utilized their newly built synthesizer to craft their own personal drone patch. Later that evening, Alpha Pup recording artist Nosaj Thing took control of all 12 synthesizers, adding and subtracting their signals in a long-form drone performance that kicked off the evening's musical programming. The improvised result was an ever-shifting and complex soundscape overwhelming in its deep, textural, hi-fidelity richness for those in attendance.

Experiment with stacking and layering them to create your own shifting palettes, run them through filters and compressors, or use them as background textures to lay other sonic components on top of. 

However you choose to use them, experimenting and learning will reward you with a lifetime of rich synthesizer experiences.
