Today is World Ocean Day, and we are super excited to welcome German natives Monkey Safari for their debut ELEMENTS Mix to take you on a melodic journey. World Oceans Day is an opportunity to raise global awareness of the benefits humans get from the ocean and our individual and collective duty to use its resources sustainably. It is also a chance to celebrate and appreciate what the ocean provides, from the oxygen we breathe to the inspiration it provides artists.

Oceans cover more than 70% of the planet, produce at least 50% of the world's oxygen, are home to most of the Earth's biodiversity and are the main source of protein for more than a billion people. They also absorb about 30% of carbon dioxide produced by humans - a buffer for the detrimental impacts of global warming.

Our partners Orca Sound Project Orca Sound Project is an accesible, solutions based organisation focused on tackling the global plastic waste crises. They engage audiences to become actively involved within sustainability and drive communities to think  about how they use plastic now and how it can be used in the future.

Bambuu Brush are a multi-award winning eco-friendly company striving to change the world using social media in a positive way to educate, inspire and empower people that we can all make simple changes away from plastic to more sustainable products.

This collaboration supports the fundraising strategy for charity projects in the developing world to combat plastic waste, and we are proud to share with you a sustainability festival pack from ELEMENTS to help you cut your plastic use whilst at events. I recently found this mix buried in my iTunes. I made it with All Day I Dream in mind around the time the events started in June 2011 (those being the now distant days the title speaks of!). As we drift through winter I thought you might enjoy some twinkles and longing melodies to brighten those grey skies and let a little imagined sunshine in. Close your eyes...

My essential mix was created with a sunrise set on the robot heart bus in mind out at Burning man, 2015. I played the actual set at BM pretty much the same time this mix was broadcast on Radio one. I don't usually plan mixes out but for this one special occasion I purposely created a similar flow and some of the mixes featured here. Enjoy!

There, i’m never one. I’m many. Connected. Connected to everything and everyone. One of the threads connecting me is music. Over the years the music has become a time machine that’s marked magical moments on my journey.  To hear it again allows me to travel back in time to those moments.

Lee Burridge - Robot Heart 10 Year Anniversary - Burning Man 2017

I like to imagine sometimes where the music will travel to. Who it will be given to or shared with. Whether it will be played at an after party in London or listened to on a set of headphones while watching the sun rise from behind a mountain in Tibet. I wonder which tracks you'll fall in love with instantly and which will grow on you as time passes. 

I know this is a really long mix and the journey into it and out the other side takes some commitment but, on the plus side, it saves you having to look for anything else to play for ages and ages.

 I hope you love the tracks as much as I do and thanks for listening.
