REC 011 w/ Voiski

The REC series compiles outstanding performances recorded in the club throughout the year, highlighting artists representing our love for electronic music.

Voiski is the kind of artist that stands out. Even surrounded by artists like Ben Klock, Shifted or Phara, as was the case when this set was recorded, Voiski’s radiance can be undoubted. Ruled by no textbook, the French artist delicately manages to combine both the ardor and elegance of his analog techno trademark.  

Embellished by the big system of our Room 01, synth parts are uniting with blaring basslines and an incessant galloping feeling. Hard to argue with the fact that Voiski is a techno stalwart, we can only hope to see him under our roof again soon.

It always surprises me how music can capture the essence of a moment so vividly. With this selection, I wanted to hold onto a specific feeling - I searched for comfort, tinted by a soft kind of melancholy. I wanted to create a hermetic bubble of tenderness, tracing the intimacy of touch - its pause outside of time, and its subsequent release. 

May it open a small space for you to breathe, too.

some words from him: "I framed this mix around my experiences exploring Toronto’s incredible ravines in the summer. I find summers to be a typically melancholic, reflective time for me, so getting out in nature is a great way to dig deeper into those emotions and eventually get lost in the wonder of the world around me. I go in many directions with this mix, just like how those little adventures end up being."

green lacewings are fascinating creatures that communicate and survive through sound vibrations, using low-frequency plant-borne signals for courtship and high-frequency sound detection to evade bats ~ two fascinating example of nonverbal communication in nature! they appear beautiful and delicate while acting as fierce predators, protecting plants from pests like aphids. spiritually, they are seen as symbols of transformation, protection, and heart-centered awareness. they remind us to notice subtle beauty and the delicate balance of the natural world.
