this music was collected in preparation for the Eris and Octo Octa’s T4T Forest Rave stage at Draaimolen.
i’ve wanted for a while to make sense of these tracks that feel to me so transcendental and higher than most music.
they bring with them ancestral knowledge on the importance of gathering and togetherness and bind those experiences with nature elements that hit gutural parts of my senses.
it’s visually clear how my body can’t stop jerking and shimmering from the intricate genius percussion in them.
they manage very successfully to trigger a hard rave feeling through kind melodies and heart warming spirit, there’s no violence here

i could say much more but it’s maybe silly to try to make too much sense of the feeling this music gives me
maybe you can feel it too

on a final note, i fought my genre bending tendencies hard for this one and kept, for the most, the 4/4 going mostly because i needed a set to listen to on my runs and the consistent repetition of the kick activates a higher sense during the activity

SMUT Press and Saint Valentine are very excited to welcome Sióg as the latest addition to our Sounds of SMUT mix series! Sióg is an Irish DJ, visual artist and co-founder of SWOON, a Berlin-based party and mix series. Featuring friends of the press Cáit and Mercorn (½ of DJ Garden Party) amongst others, SWOON release ‘new sounds with every full moon and throw parties on a blue moon’ - with the next edition taking place in April at Fitzroy. Sióg has appeared on likes of Refuge Worldwide, Threads and The Lot Radio, as well as providing guest mixes for Daisychain and Fuaim, and with this cheeky little Valentine’s flirtation she has provided us, it isn’t hard to see why!

This hour-long mix is bumpy and breaks-heavy, with hints of sultry 2-step throughout. Pretty Privilege is a DJ and organiser based in Montreal, Canada. She is the founder of microrave, a FLINTA*-centered mix & party series. Over the past two years, she has become a mainstay of the city’s queer rave scene, performing at local favourites like Homegrown Harvest and Piknic Electronik, as well as multiple shows in the United States. She has also done mixes for Shift Radio, Action Replay Codes, Radio Vacarme, and FemmeDecks. Her mixing style is faithfully dance driven, with sets that heavily incorporate sexy vocal electro, pop-inspired techno, and liquidy afterhours grooves. When she’s not bouncing viciously behind the decks, she’s taking estrogen and trying to be a good person.
