This concept album is my "Final Major Project" for UH University. 
It is a "Dolby Digital Professional 5.1" surround type of work. 

The concept is based on the story of Tsutomu Miyazaki, best know as “The Otaku Murderer”. He was a very smart Japanese student who suffered with a malformation to the hands. This misfortune shaped his character and his social life, slowly turning him into a paedophile first (taking pictures and videos of his victims) and then into a true serial killer of four female children. After abusing their bodies, he would engage in acts such as drinking their blood and eating their hands (because of his disease he was obsessed with hands). 

Following these murders, the word “Otaku” has assumed a significant meaning, and this is why nowadays it is considered a strong taboo in Japan. 

The album is a representation of the inner journey in the psychology and interiority of the person and the mind that stands behind these murders. It explores the different emotional states, sensations and sudden and strong switches of mood, all narrated through the music. The album consists of brief and diverse chunks, where each one represents a specific mental state or episode of this tragedy. 
Despite the disturbing and macabre tones of this event, I intended to narrate it in a delicate way. Firstly, because the story is told in first person, by the protagonist (the murderer) and secondly, because whilst doing what he did, he was deeply convinced that he was doing something right (“Tell the world I am a gentle man” is what he last said before being executed.) 


Genre and narrative style: I did attempt to amalgamate various elements in order to create a unique and original language to tell a story with; to narrate and describe what (I would like to think) was in the mind of the murderer.

You'll Leave Me When You're Famous

The song is about feeling disconnected within your relationship, when two partners are physically very close to each other, but yet mentally far away. I experienced this loneliness feeling when I was living in a high-rise  in London - my flat was at the 10th floor and the sense of alienation triggered inspiration for this tune. It's also a consideration about social media and how much the perception of distance per se has changed in the new generations.

Amsterdam-based Jorge Velez unveils his new album on Utter titled ‘The Saturn Star’. Inspired by Coil and Carlos Peron, the New Jersey native recorded the score to an imaginary film based on the tale of a 16th Century Alchemist hunted down by The Inquisition in Western Europe. It follows a string of Velez releases over the past few years for labels such as L.I.E.S, Berceuse Heroique, Creme Organization and Rush Hour. ‘The Saturn Star’ is limited to 250 copies and includes the A5 ‘Systema’ booklet illustrated by Velez. Our pick for the premiere is the gritty and ethereal A-side track ‘Labour’.

Still Wanting

Conjuring a midnight rendez-vous with a maddening lover, Eleonora Stolfi’s beguiling voice breathes life into her original compositions, written with heart and stomach.

In her upcoming début solo album Fish out of Water, Eleonora holds the listener in a tortured embrace as she weaves an entrancing soundscape from the threads of generations.

Evoking a private invitation to a Lynchian lounge bar, Fish out of Water serves a swill of nostalgic reverie laced with eclectic elements of the present day. Stolfi’s studio work at once honours the lineage of her influences (alternative guitars, intoxicating saxophone, and versatile strings), while flirtatiously stealing away to explore electronic synths and beats.

After taking up the majority of the instruments in her own two hands and distilling her demons into a cathartically sumptuous recording, Stolfi emerges to present the perfect complement in her stripped-back live performance.

Eleonora’s sets explore an emotional range from hushed and confessional to raucous and wild. She cherishes these opportunities to connect intimately with her audience, revealing reimaginings of her own pieces alongside heartfelt and well-chosen covers.

A commanding presence and accomplished instrumentalist, Stolfi guides her audience with piercing insight through the enchanted darkness of the human psyche. The experience is transformative.
