Conversation with Mighty Casual, a Kansas City-based artist. 

Jamal Allen, also known by his stage name Cásual, is a rapper and producer based out of Kansas City, Kansas. Cásual became actively involved in the world of hip-hop as a director who focused on music videos for local Kansas City artists from 2014 to 2020. He is influenced by all genres and sub-genres of hip-hop; however, Cásual also has a love for indie records. This has led to the creation of a unique artistic sound influenced by lo-fi hip/hop infused with alternative and indie sounds.    Released in November 2021, the self-titled Vol. 1, displayed a glimpse of what Cásual has to offer to his listeners sonically. This first project was dedicated to his best friend, known in Kansas City as Corn, who passed away earlier that same year. Vol. 1 is packed with a variety of melodies and catchy hooks inspired by this Midwest artist breaking barriers in the independent art scene. Midwestsider is the artist's personal favorite track on the project as it represents how the music scene in the Midwest is historically looked over.
