Jay has been DJing professionally for three decades and has played some of the most iconic underground clubs in more than 200 cities worldwide. Most notably he had an 18 year run playing at Londons Fabric, and is currently celebrating a decade at Flash DC and a 22 year residency at Gorgomish in his home city of Vancouver, Canada. Jay has contributed to every major podcast in the scene, and has well over 300 interviews, reviews and articles in the world of music. As a working DJ, Tripwire can range from the freshest of the fresh to the most obscure vintage bomb, and his extended sets are renowned for reflecting his vast knowledge and ability.

Whether as Jay Tripwire, Mr_Barcode or other aliases over the past 3 decades, none have contributed to the soundscape of underground music more with 68 number 1’s from 426 vinyl releases.

There's something rebellious about playing records completely improvised. Like buying a lucky bag of sweets from the ice cream van and finding a prize inside it, every unheard B side in your record collection knows this only too well. 

Nowadays, you can buy a set of Pioneer CDJ's for £7000 from Amazon and be 'sync button' mixing within hours. It's all the rage afterall.

We on the other hand spend £7000+ a year searching for vinyl and in support of new underground artists. 

Sometimes when we play our records, we discover a phenomenon known by very few - the hidden 3rd track - an act of when 2 different records become one and resultantly the " 3rd Hidden Track " is revealed.

What a joy it will be if you find your own personal feeling of this.

Records are living things, surface noise and all. They bang better. They want to live.

Fall finally blew in to Chicago this past week so had to go deep for some warm selections. Kept it pretty mild on the tempo, moody groovers, some current, some 80s, maybe even 70s. Some highlights from A Vision Of Panorama and Saucy Lady, a few favorites from Dam-Funk and Jordan Lee and the Shiro Schwarz Ekkah Remix. Solid Vibes all around, hope folks can lock in with this one on repeat.
