Based in Colombia’s capital Bogotá, Felipe Gordon is a renaissance man. The producer, multi-instrumentalist, DJ and label head from Bogotá, Colombia is nothing short of a phenom, effortlessly fusing complex sound combinations from Jazz samples to flowing pianos and acid bass lines into hugely exciting and unique house records. It’s a sound which comes together perfectly to create tracks which have been moving waves worldwide over the last couple of years. Felipe has already released a string of hugely well regarded tracks and worked on remixes for some of the coolest labels out there including Toy Tonics, Local Talk, Shall Not Fade, Razor n' Tape and his own Nómada Records.

A Chance To Dance with Will Buck

One of our favourite producers of 2022 steps up with an exclusive 64 minutes of almost entirely unreleased material. Parisian producer @tour-maubourg has released an remarkable body of work in the past couple of years that connects the dots between his city's deep house and nu jazz heritage (e.g. St-Germain, Wuz, Cassius) and the contemporary jazz scene, where sumptuous 4/4 grooves and broken beats are laced with sweet vintage and analog synth solos and motifs. We predict the biggest things for him and are very happy to have him contribute to our long-running series.

*How would you describe your sound?*

I’m trying to produce modern music, mainly house, jazz, and dub related with an old school and warm feel.

*What and who inspires you and influences your sound?* 

If I had to name three main influences it would be Ron Trent and Chez Damier, for their vision and reflection on pushing forward the sound.

Basic channel for their exploration of texture and ambience. Their sound has a unique feel.

Nicolas Jaar for his abilities to touch the masses with non pop music. His ability to make complexity simpler so that anyone can understand his music.

*Can you tell us a little about this mix and what it means to you?*

I was very happy that it was only made out of my production. As I have tons of music I stick that will probably not be released, it’s a good way to take it out of my hard drive and give it a second life 🙏

In a little more than two years, Aterral Records has released a crate's worth of outstanding material amplifying a certain strain of deep house — those warm, richly textured deep grooves that leave behind a trace of spiritual resonance in the air. Naomi is a Berlin-based DJ who has a perfectly calibrated passion for House music and an ability to create unpredictable atmospheres and energy in the club. Growing up and competing as a House dancer has helped shape and hone Naomi's appreciation for the smoothest of house grooves as a DJ. In the past 6 years, she’s been making a name for herself by playing in the city’s most renowned clubs like Tresor, Watergate, Golden Gate and Heideglühen and can be spotted regularly on HÖR, the notorious bathroom streaming service.

Last year she kicked off a new residency at the not-for-profit radio station, Refuge Worldwide, where she holds down a monthly show specialising on all grooves and moods of house music. Changing tempos from soulful and deep house to driving and powerful is what she has become known for, and she continues to bring the love of Chicago and Detroit house music to the Berlin dancefloors.

It's always very touching to find musical testimonials. Over 20 years ago, my booking agency asked me to record this mix. In 2002, I was very inspired by the San Francisco scene. There were some great labels, DJs and artists there... What makes me happy is that I could still play 95% of those records. Time goes by too quickly, but I'm still as passionate and involved as ever. It was a great period, we played 100% vinyl, I scoured the record shops... This mix is an opportunity to look back on a past with tons of great memories.
