Dub, the breaking down and rebuilding of the reggae rhythm, is a uniquely restorative music. And it is with this in mind, that Mungo’s Hi Fi have created their latest long-playing release.
Antidote is a ten-track album of dub remixes to existing and yet to be released Mungo’s produced anthems: inspired by dub pioneers such as King Tubby, Scientist and Errol Thompson, crafted with a futuristic edge. This is an album designed for inner reflection, non-physical travel and communion with nature. In short, it’s an Antidote to all the stress and restriction of modern life.
Throughout Antidote, you’ll hear snatches of vocals from Mungo’s favoured collaborators. The other- worldly voice of France’s Pupajim graces the time-bending Time Traveller. UK lyricist Solo Banton powers the chest-rattling Pulsating Dub. The ethereal Hollie Cook’s Sugar Water gets a haunting mixdown for Intravenous Dub, while Jamaican dancehall legends Jah Thomas and Lady Ann’s Doctor Doctor is reimagined as NHS 24 Dub. The unmistakable vocal tone of London’s Kiko Bun finds its way through a forest of crashing snare drums during Escape from the City.
Rain Keeps Falling, Mungo’s 2017 Record Store Day release with Jamaican roots icon Johnny Clarke, reappears, ominously on the horizon as Murky Dub. The immortal King Jammy relick Total Disaster by Shanti D is given robotic treatment to become Epic Fail.
The ancient voice of Rasta chanter Prince Alla anchor Miracle Cure, a new flipside to his 1979 Freedom Sounds composition Only Love Can Conquer. Two generations of UK emcees, Charlie P and Daddy Freddy, give sparing performances amidst the sparse yet deeply textured Border Patrol.
Perhaps the purest distillation of the project’s message is vocal-free final track, Birds Of Pleasure, a blissful meditation on the recent rise in birdsong across the world.
Antidote is a dub album that will appeal to lovers of the classic Jamaican artform and contemporary bass music in equal measure. It’s a sonic journey that will leave all who enter cleansed and replenished on the other side.

La Cepa is a reggae newcomer from Mexico. On their upcoming debut album Chaui Mntr and Elsa More blend reggae, rap, Latin rhythms, melodies and their unique flow. The songs are a collaboration with the german producer and Irie Ites crew member King Toppa.  
“Fuerza” is the first single from the upcoming album “King Toppa Meets La Cepa”. The song has strong roots reggae influences that matched perfectly with Elsa´s smooth singing and Chaui´s rap.
Since 2015 La Cepa had the opportunity to play in the cultural spaces of Mexico City as well as throughout the country. They have released two EPs and various national and international collaborations. The new video was produced by Rótulos Unión, a company formed by visual artists Vivian Santillán and Néstor Cobos, that root from the local graffiti scene and had the opportunity to work as separate sign makers and muralists. 
We are more than happy to support this talented youth on their path, that basically just started.

After the success of the 12” Vinyl / Digital debut EP of Dub Unit featuring Speng Bond, now comes the first 7” Vinyl with this massive riddim from Subactive with the legendary Mikey Murka singing on top of “The Bad Man Riddim”.

Founded in 2010, Subactive is a Strasbourg (France) based sound-system. Amateurs of sharp skanks and fat bass lines, they produce modern-sounding riddims influenced by digital reggae of the 80s.

The remix from Dreadsquad & Doubla J.on the Polish label “Superfly studio” is the first official release in 2012. In 2013, Subactive is signed on the famous music label Scotch Bonnet and releases its first EP (Frontline EP) in collaboration with singers El Fata & Ranking Levy. They are also the organisers of “DUB SOUNDZ” nights in Strasbourg where they play diferent styles from reggae to stepper making the crowds move using exclusives, dubplates and home-made productions. Subactive has invited many artists such as OBF, Stand High, Mungo's Hifi, Kenny Knots, Vibronics, Disrupt, Riddim Tuffa, El Fata, Dawa Hifi, The Dub Machinist, Weeding Dub, Idren Reality, for the greatest enjoyment of a faithfully present and ever-increasing local audience.

Mikey Murka first came to the attention of reggae fans worldwide way back in the the early 80′s. Having grown up in Jamaica, Mikey moved to London as a teenager & began singing on the legendary Unity Sound. In the height of Reggae’s ‘digital era’ in the 80′s Mikey worked the dancehalls with fellow Unity Sound artists such as Kenny Knotts, Errol Bellot, Selah Collins, Richie Davis, Peter Bouncer, Demon Rocker & Flinty Rankin (the Ragga Twins) performing regularly alongside the likes of Coxsone, Saxon & other top sounds of the day. On stage Mikey has supported artists including Sugar Minott, Mikey General, Tippa Irie, Daddy Freddy & many more. Following Unity Sound’s sucess in the soundsystem circuit, they began releasing records. With them Mikey recorded a series of hit tunes, including anthems such as ‘Control the Dancehall’, ‘We Try’ & perhaps the most well known ‘Ride Pon the Riddim’ which reached top 3 in the reggae charts, earning Mikey international recognition. Countless Mikey Murka tracks appeared on various compilation albums, the most famous of which include Unity Sound’s ‘Watch How The People Dancing’ LP & John Dread’s ‘Jamaica Affair’ Vol 3, where Mikey appears alongside Big Youth & King Kong. After a long break from the game, Mikey returned in 2002 hotter than ever, this time teaming up Kemist Kris of Reality Shock, who persuaded him to relaunch his singing career.

It's the sheer joyousness of El fata's music that hits you first, an impact created by the warm sincerity of his vocals, and a succession of uplifting melodies, conscious lyrics, and blend of musical styles. Born in Lagos Nigeria,he started out as a drummer in his school band, during his teens, he discovered reggae music and turned singer after being inspired by Jamaican acts such as Michael Rose, Don Carlos, Gregory Isaacs, Bob Marley, Cocoa Tea and Dennis Brown. At the age of nineteen, he was fronting a band that toured the country, performing a mix of original material and cover versions. Three years later, in 1996 after their residency at the Lagos Hilton came to an end; he left Nigeria to Cote d’ivoire and embarked on a solo career. It was there he began composing songs in both English and French, and recorded his debut album, The coming of El fata, which appeared in 1999. He and The Living spirit band were a popular draw at festivals and concerts throughout Cote d’ivoire until 2004, when he move to England and chance encounter with left field reggae outfit Bamjimba. Wakeye Wakey, recorded and mixed at the Mad Professor's Ariwa studio,was their first collaboration. El fata has done many releases and continue to work with various producers across the globe.
