This is a Theme I’ve constructed over the past few months for a friend & Writer Alex O’ Neil. He is passionate about creating art in the form of science fiction in tribute to all the retro classics that have contributed towards mankind’s Vision of how we see Space, Extended reality & the Cosmos! 

If you ever get asked to create the “Ultimate Science Fiction Theme”, I assure you that you will come up against all sorts of daemons & other obstacles! Also, as per usual, there is no money involved. Nor a budget for the Series that is to be created by a small team of very talented & dedicated persons. However, I treat every project the same; with full dedication & with the intension of Industry Standard. 

The most obvious issue is trying to avoid it sounding like anything ever done before in Science Fiction. And yet upholding the tradition of an iconic sound, catchy melody & atmospheric sustains considered the sanctity of Space Music!

The Director of this Project asked specifically “Not to include Drums” in this piece. A Smart Move, considering the extra layers available to a composer in adhering to an idea. 

My only regret is that I wish I just had more equipment. Much MUCH more. Such as a Moog Polymoog, EMS VC-3, Maybe Dave Smith instruments, an ARP Odyssey MK II, An Analog recording Desk, etc. Just so I could get closer to the Sound I was aiming for. 
Still, I suppose it’s only natural I feel unworthy of such a Task. What with predecessors such as Delia Derbyshire, Peter Thomas, John Williams, Mark Snow, Jerry Goldsmith, Brad Fiedel, Barry Gray, etc. All Gifted Masters. 
What can I say? I did my best!

Music Inspired by the Movie 'Laura in Action' (2008)

I composed the music for the short film Laura in Action back in 2008. I originally started working on the film before there was an English translation of the script; instead I had a translated storyline to read and could see some storyboards and rough footage to get an idea of the film. At this point, I started thinking about what kinds of scenes would be in it, and thinking of themes that might work. I wrote a theme for the character of Laura and another theme for her Superhero persona. Unfortunately, I was never able to fully use the theme I had created for Laura because in the final script there were no good opportunities for it.

This is a soundtrack to an imaginary scene from before the film actually starts. The first part of the piece underscores Laura at night talking about her hopes for the meeting the next day in Copenhagen with Justesen Publishing where she hopes to have her dream of publishing her comic book realized. At 1:24 there is a scene change to the next day, an aerial establishing shot of the car transporting Laura arriving at the train station. She gets out of the car at 1:29, and kisses her boyfriend goodbye at 1:46; all aboard is called at 1:56. She gets on and the train begins to pick up speed (close-ups of mechanisms). From 2:30 onward is a train montage of aerial shots of the train crosscut with Laura drawing a battle scene from her Miss Crystal comic book.
