Mame Loshn Motion (live)

Eli Berman performing an original piece for voice and tape based on a Slovak trávnice of the same name. Trávnice are hay-making songs traditionally sung by women in the mountains of present-day Central and Eastern Slovakia, where many of Berman’s maternal ancestors once lived. All sounds made from Berman's voice, reverb, and delay. Performed August 2019.

Zey Zaynen Gelofn (live demo)

Improvisation for solo voice and large, electroacoustic xibuccal instrument. My handmade device consists of a small microphone, amplifier, digital delay pedal, and batteries connected to a transducer that sits at the bottom of a PVC pipe. All sounds are made from a combination of my voice, the pipe and its circuitry (feedback, sputtering, etc), and digital delay. Performed March 2020.

You Don't Care (live demo)

Eli Berman singing with two of her vocal feedback pipes. Each instrument consists of a PVC pipe, small microphone, amplifier, digital delay pedal, and batteries connected to a transducer that sits at the bottom of each pipe. Berman wears another handmade device made of PVC and corrugated pipes that 1) splits the output of her voice into two sound holes in order to reach both mics and 2) facilitates communication between the two feedback pipes. All sounds are made from a combination of her voice, the pipes and their circuitry (feedback, sputtering, etc), and digital delay. Performed March 2020.
