This year, while navigating change and the dissolution of my once concrete understanding of reality, I’ve found myself naturally anchored to the sacred, ritualistic aspects of the morning. Journalling, movement, and meditation have undoubtedly kept me from blowing away amidst the storm. 

It is such a universally acknowledged truth that the morning is a time of virtue, expansion, consciousness, and clarity that we barely bother to question it. 

But what of the night? 

Last week, as I lay on the dusty Karoo, staring out into the infinite expanse of stars, I realised that she has just as much to teach us.

She beckons us to surrender our self-awareness in the depths of her embrace, to become one amongst a crowd, safe under the cloak of her darkness. She invites us to revel and relax in the unknown, to lose ourselves in chaos and confusion, to dance and become entranced. In her infinite space, we are able to abandon all conscious thought and premeditation. She shows us a different path to clarity — if only we would welcome her in.

For the night is also sacred.

Join us on a journey through the sounds of the sunset at Mbombo on Saturday. The energy on the dancefloor was electric, and we want to thank everyone who shared in this unforgettable experience with us.

Here's the recording of the sunset set I played from inside the BOOMBOX (@user-461482352) 18:30 - 20:00 on the Saturday at Afrikaburn. 

This was real music in motion as we had to keep playing while moving the stage from one burn to the next. In the end it made for one really special experience with everyone dancing along next to the car as we navigated our way across the playa.
