Hi guys and thanks for being here with me for Tides Vol. 10. As always, I create these mixes at significant points in my life and environment, and this new edition is no different. In Tides Vol. 9, I put a heavy emphasis on the concept and presence of energy as a collective force, so go check that one out if you haven’t yet! This installment is especially significant in that so much drastic change has occurred not just to me, but to our entire universal existence in just a short few weeks. With our whole normal way of life being flipped over so suddenly, we are required to adjust, adapt, and stay present each day. In line with my choices for this mix and the way they pull you forward by an uplifting journey through sound and space, I couldn’t help but contemplate the idea of detachment. As individuals and community as a whole, we are more often than not entrapped in our attachments to normality. Anywhere from our material choices to freedom of physical motion and simple actions of consistency. In stating the obvious, we now have been forced to detach from our past way of life and enter a new realm of acceptance. Whether you agree with the actions (or lack thereof) we are pressed to take as a unified group during this crisis, I can’t help but notice the positive aspects of it all. For many, this is a fearful time of falling into the unknown and losing a sense of continuity, but this change and new norm may be exactly what our world needed at exactly the right time. If we are willing to work on our detachment from as much of our lives as we can, we can allow our minds and bodies to be freer than previously before. A quote I’ve recently come up on is, “Attachment breeds panic, fear and disempowerment which detachment transforms into peace of mind, certainty and empowerment. The route to effortless detachment is faith.” Detaching from the previously thought necessities of our day to day lives, may just allow us to pause, reset, and approach our entire meaning from a new and refreshed point of view. If you have faith in your purpose and detach from mundane ideas that at one point were deemed essential, we might as a population transcend such a crisis coming out better, more fluid, with more compassion and happier than ever before. With this idea in mind, I’ve created this 55 minute soundscape of amazing work to let go and detach, if mainly for your mental survival. We don’t know how long this change will take place and how exactly we will appear on the other side of it, but if we have faith in the unknown processes and command our energy to help ourselves and those around us, our looking glass might shine with brighter light, and we may just be alright. As the oceans of our planet oscillate with beautiful carefree motion by direction of our moon, we too can flow together as one patiently waiting to arrive at new shores again. I hope you enjoy this mix and remember to always trust the Tides of the universe.
