Intergalactic FM Streaming Festival 2021

Papiro’s approach to music is never technical, but always personal. Since the mid-Nineties, he has released a handful of noteworthy albums, each carefully put together and seemingly self-contained, yet all sharing an unmistakable musical language and a certain escapist aura.

La finestra dentata (The Toothed Window), is no exception. It includes both studio and concert recordings from 2016–2020. The sounds on this album appear infinite and full of marvels, ingenious in portraying imaginary creatures and environments.

The title track and Anelli take up most of the first side and include live outtakes. These swirly symphonies are specifically intended as immersive deep-listening experiences for concert venues, and have been edited for this album to meet the physical demands of vinyl and domestic use. Imagine the younger cousins of Laurie Spiegel’s Concerto Generator performance, or Terry Riley’s Shri Camel.

However, those who know Papiro only from the stage might be unaware of a different side to his oeuvre; starry-eyed miniatures that may appear frivolous in comparison to the more heady tracks, but are nonetheless well worth discovering. Each piece adds a chapter to a phantasmagoric world populated by such characters as "Giant Duckling", "King Hard-Beard", or the "Bodulator". Tracks like the opener Odilon or Il triciclo nascosto, meanwhile, emanate a candor rarely found in the domain of serious music, and revisit Papiro’s early days of instrumental storytelling.

Ambient, Drones and Strings from the West Side of the Sea

Meira Asher’s work challenges accepted conventions of practice and genre, even within the supposed open-minded circles of the Avantgarde. A composer, performer and Human Rights activist, she freely oscillates between, through and beyond the fields of Sound art and Radio art. In the past 20 years her artistic practice has been focusing on in-depth and long- term projects, and she has been working assiduously, amassing many different projects in different veins. She is the producer of the independent Radioart show radioart106 since 2014 and a former lecturer at Haifa university's Art School (2012-22). Her works were released on Crammed, Sub Rosa, Auditorium, Raash Records and Ultima Ratio labels, but mostly independent through her own platforms. Her recent works include TANSIKتنسيق for Radio Reina Sofia Madrid, a Hebrew version of Antonin Artaud’s radio essay Pour en finir avec le jugement de Dieu and Sonic Voyage of Resistance for Radio Art Zone.

Murray CY from Glasgow runs the Contort Yourself imprint thus far over the last three years he's been releasing compilation 12 inches bridging the gap between the old and the new with records featuring artists like Die Form, Broken English Club, Beau Wanzer, Pankow, Esplendor Geometrico, and Enrique to name a few. He runs a daily blog called 'Dark Science Electro' which features news, live sets, guest mixes, upcoming shows, premieres as well as a weekly radio show on Intergalactic FM.

The weekly radio show has aired since 2010 and it currently broadcasts on Intergalactic FM, every Friday at 20:00 GMT.

With production techniques ranging from video games to sequencers, from MPC's to software and spanning a multitude of genres, he has collaborated with the likes of Franck Kartell, Das Muster, MetaComplex, Koova, Faceless Mind, Komarken Electronics and more.
