OBSKRRD 093 // La Fraicheur

For over a decade now, from Paris to Berlin and now Barcelona, La Fraicheur has been making a name for herself with her signature sound of powerful, diverse and emotionally charged Techno(es) sets while fuelling a strong love for the wide gamut of Electronic Music through House, Electro & Dark Disco / Indie Dance.

Running parties in Berlin's renowned clubs Wilde Renate & Mensch Meier, resident at Berlin’s Gegen as well as a regular DJ for the city’s queer scene staple parties Buttons, Pornceptual and House of Red Doors, member of Female:Pressure, the queer feminist activist is a marathon DJ who can go on for countless hours.

In the last 6 years, she extended her craft by producing her own music ranging from ravy epic Techno to dark pumping Electro, spacious open air Deep House to melancholic Electronica. She wrote her critically acclaimed debut album during an artist residency at the Underground Resistance studios in Detroit, her project selected by the Berlin-Detroit Connection, an organisation founded by Mike Banks (UR) and Dimitri Hegemann (Tresor). Released in June 2018 on French label InFiné, it garnered quite a supportive media coverage. She was invited that same year by Roland to launch the TR-8S alongside Steffi, Virginia and Catnapp.

La Fraicheur also started in 2019 a Techno duo with Leonard de Leonard centered on a Live Act mixing modular synths and digital gear for a club-ready performance.

2020 sees her composing the soundtrack for M.A.D the new contemporary dance piece by French choreographer R14-Julien Grosvalet to be premiered in January 2021, which she also performs live.

Her intersectional feminist fundraiser has raised over 5000€ which were donated to several NGOs supporting human rights : women, migrant, trans people, queer homeless youth, victims of rape and domestic violence and sex workers in France, Spain, Palestine, Mexico, the USA and the UK. 

She tours internationally including at festivals like Burning Man (USA), Fusion (DE), Garbicz (PL), Dour (BE) or Transmusicales (FR) and at famed clubs such as Tresor, About Blank, KitKat Club, Griessmühle, Kater Holzig, Rex Club to name a few.

Our next guest on our Podcast is Narciss. 
Despite naming himself after a mythical egomaniac, Narciss’ approach to Techno is very far from self-centered, with his inspirations reaching from the cosmic horror of H.P. Lovecraft’s writing, across the jagged dystopian landscapes of Tsutomu Nihei, to the 90’s tool techno whitelabel-records he fell in love with in his teen years. Undeterred by the tonal difference in these influences though, the glue holding all of them together is an earnest sense of urbanity and Narciss’ audible wish to make a crowd move as ecstatically as possible.

This time you hear one hour out of his closing set from the Seelen. Labelnight which took place at Geheimclub on 26th of May 2018.

We start the podcast of this new year with a set duo @sanaandnasa.
SANA + NASA is an electronic music group that is rooted around the meeting of two artists from different social backgrounds. Their musical influences are multiple, complementary, and push them to seek new sounds while pushing the limits of the genre.

It is on a base of distorted, saturated, brilliant and deep stamps that the creations of SANA + NASA have been developed: in turn, power, aggressiveness, melancholy and enlightenment come together. Between rage and serenity or nightmare and dream, the universe of the duo sways between states of souls both dark and bright.

On the occasion of the imminent release of their EP @Carcere Records they have concocted a rave set of the most shattering.
