We always feel hyped when we're due to open up to booth to NTS/BBC Radio 1 host and revered selector, Moxie. The vibes she provides each time she steps inside is forever on point. Hers is a kind of dancefloor dexterity that's rare to find, being able to seamlessly fuse together an array of genres whilst at the same time constructing it perfectly for the given space and soundsystem. It's why she frequently warms up our Martin Audio rig on Friday nights and no doubt why she's relentlessly invited to play at fellow clubbing haunts and festivals ranging from Brixton's defining DMZ dance to Croatia's Dimensions festival.

A good few years since Moxie first played at our Charterhouse hub, she's since contributed her adept musical expertise to our fabric blog on numerous occasions, but with an upcoming set on Friday 18th September, we deemed it time that she permanently demonstrated the sonic dynamism we experience every time she plays for the people of the internet. While kindly answering a few of our probing questions in the midst of Outlook Festival this week, she also fired over an exclusive and long overdue mixtape.

Moxie -  FABRICLIVE Promo Mix

Brazilian duo Selvagem is made up of Millos Kaiser and Trepanado. Their alias translates from Portuguese as “wild” and their collective output fits that word well: it is organic and from-the-jungle, littered with traditional instruments as well as weird synths, plus bird calls, naturalistic sounds and vocal chantings. As well as being colourful DJs and record collectors, the pair host their own much loved sunset parties and intimate club events in Sao Paolo and Rio de Janerio. Mostly they command the decks themselves, but guests like Optimo and Andy Blake have also stopped by. 

A genre-less approach informs their DJ style and finds the pair mixing up sounds from many worlds other than dance, including rock, soul and funk as well as house and techno and plenty of indescribable moods in between. All of this is laid bare in their podcast for us, which is a seventy five minute, sun-kissed trip though pan pipes and afro-disco, breezy house and kaleidoscopic grooves. One of the most erudite offerings in our series, this set really does invite you into a whole new musical realm.

Pablo Valentino is a talented French DJ & has been DJing since 1998. A well travelled and very knowledgeable music collector. 

He's the founder and owner of MCDE Recordings which he runs together with his close friend Motor City Drum Ensemble.

He also own another label called FACES Records (which just celebrated 15 years).

Pablo is known for his energic and eclectic DJ sets, ranging from House, Disco, Brazilian, Boogie, Techno & Soul.

Since 2014 Pablo is running a monthly residency called "Children Of The Drum" that has been a huge success on the french club scene, almost always sold out, it takes place in 2 of the most notorious french clubs : Le Sucre in Lyon & Rex Club in Paris.

We're very excited to welcome @laurenceguymusic to the SB guestmix series this week! He's definitely up there as one of our absolute favourites and his tracks have featured in so many of our radio shows that it started to get a bit ridiculous :)

The debut album on Church Records in 2017 was the starting point to our love of his music. “Saw You For The First Time” followed a string of very well received EPs and saw his name projected to new heights. His deliciously deep and moody sounds for our friends at Shall Not Fade were especially great to hear this past year at a time when it felt like the world was falling apart.

A restless digger, Laurence can be found rummaging through the dusty crates of his local charity shops looking for samples to expand his sound palate, some of which have made their way onto his edits label Accidental Pieces. Look for the 4th instalment on the 27th October.

New York’s house and disco evangelist Eli Escobar has been a familiar face on the city’s scene for the last two decades. Whether tearing it up at clubs across the capital (and beyond) or throwing down super-charged disco bombs on labels like Nervous, Strictly Rhythm, & Classic, Escobar rarely steps out of his four-four beat. As one third of the Tiki Disco parties in Bushwick, as well as running his own Night People label, Escobar has been putting his own twist on the city’s house and disco soundtrack, joining the dots between yesterday’s golden era classics and today’s club anthems.
