I came up with the chorus of this song while driving home to eastern Kentucky from college. What road was I driving on? You guessed it: the Cumberland Parkway. 

Even after writing the chorus, I didn’t know what I wanted the song to be about.

Then the words flowed out of me. The lyrics in the verses are reflections on the economic and opioid problems that eastern Kentucky was left with after the collapse of the coal industry. 

Anyway, this is a voice memo of the song I sent to some friends who told me to post it on here. Hope you like it!
