Soy is Cuban rap artist El Individuo’s EP from his debut  album — a danceable collection of tracks that introduce the artist into the world and invites the world to get a taste of the new sound of Cuba’s hip hop scene. Although being a part of the scene for many years, Soy is El Individuo’s first work as a solo artist, and the space he carves through fresh Caribbean hip hop. His flow is dynamic and clever without being outwardly political, yet what sets El Individuo apart is his fresh Caribbean-infused sound that pushes beyond the 90s-beats that confine most Latin American rappers. The best track is “Baila” a dancehall turned hip hop beat that, while delivering an intricate meditation-turned-lesson, “if you can’t be perfect, try to be original”,  is upbeat and laced with rhythmic vibrations.
