Here’s the second EP of ‘Fastlane’, one of the summer’s party starters courtesy of two pillars of the French scene Romuald & Madji’k AKA The Spimes (R.I.P.).

An unstoppable funky disco thumper in its original version, ‘Fastlane’ turns here into a widescreen FM ballad produced with close collaborator Bastian Belde. Then on the remix front, the ubiquitous Mighty Mouse strips things down tastefully without losing groove, nor punch. London’s White Heat resident Marcus Harris turns out a dubbed out re-interpretation nodding at the 80s’ discerning NYC dancefloors. Lastly Stuttgart’s Final DJs fuse classic house and pumping disco with savoir faire.

A true soul man and a gentleman, not far off being a living legend, Romuald has been an active singer/songwriter/producer on the Parisian scene for well over a decade, not mentioning several NYC escapades that led him to develop songs for 50 Cent, Kelly Rowland, Keri Hilson… and heavyweight hitmakers The Clutch. Romuald co-wrote and featured on many projects, from The Paradise’s French Touch classic ‘In Love With You’ with Alan Braxe, to Ernest St Laurent, Mr Gonzo… He even shyly kicked off a solo career in the very early days of Kitsuné.
Madji’k, the musician/composer from down south (Toulouse), is another familiar virtuoso born in Funky Town. After catching the rave bug in the 90s, he started to write tracks and hasn’t stopped producing since, having released singles on Diamond Traxx, 20,000 ST, Fantômas, Nervous, Henry Street, Fogbank, Deeptown, Tallhouse…

The two comperes, under their The Spimes moniker, were first spotted in 2013 when they joined forces with Alan Braxe and released the ‘Time Machine’ EP together (which held on the flip rare emotional gem ‘One More Chance’).  
Here they’re at it again with ‘Fastlane’, a brand new addictive disco cut lifted straight outta NY’s Studio 54 and of course led by Romuald’s golden voice and luxurious vocal arrangements (he performs all vocal parts).

We come to the final chapter of the hero’s journey. We must all return, and when we return what have we learned from our quest? The road of trials has been hard but maybe the toughest task is coming to terms with life after defeating the dragon. What is the new purpose when all goals seem to have been achieved?  

Frenic finishes the epic Monomyth trilogy with “Return”  and takes you on a journey of lo-fi trip-hop beats with deep electronica & sample manipulation.   

 “I started this trilogy as a way of thanks for the amazing journeys I have taken while on tour. In particular, Greece.  I would like to thank Joseph Campbell for the inspiration and his amazing philosophy. I learned a lot researching these albums and these ideas will stay with me forever.
