Historian David Dennis brings to life this area of scrub land and playing fields between Bexhill and St. Leonards in East Sussex, giving the listener/walker a glimpse into the palimpsest of time filling the empty space with stories. Bulverhythe History walk with David Dennis

Soundwalk through Bulverhythe Medieval Harbour with David Dennis

This soundwalk was recorded in May 2022, in Bexhill-on-Sea in East Sussex, by Mary Hooper in conversation with naturalist Peter Hunnisett and co-project artist Elise Liversedge. It one of a series of soundwalks commissioned by the FofCV 

Peter describes in detail the plants, geology, birds and insects that colonise this strip between the sea and the land. It is part of a series of of soundwalks that reveal the fascinating history and flora and fauna of Combe Valley now a conservation area.

Peter Hunnisett takes us on a naturalist's shoreline soundwalk in Bexhill-on-Sea.

This is one of 4 Soundwalks commissioned by the Friends of Combe Valley Conservation area in Bexhill East Sussex. David Rogers, an expert on identifying the song patterns of different birds, met Mary Hooper one spring morning at 7.00 a.m to walk the length of former railway line from Sidley to Crowhurst Marshes recording the songs of different birds along the way. 
For anyone interested in learning how to identify birdsong this is a wonderful way to listen as you walk guided by David's knowedge, or to listen to as a way of transporting yourself into the countryside.

Walking with History in Combe Valley Countryside Park
