Beat 1 - Videogame Finishline In The Sky

Posting my daily beat warm ups!

This one I was learning how to use the arpeggiator!

Beat 2 - Smitten

Beat 3: “slinky”
Imagining im at a lounge or somewhere with modern furniture lol..and a pool...and it’s nighttime....OR another friend said it’s like being on a stroll

Technical stuff: I wanted to learn how to make this bendy low bass sound i hear in r&b that goes WUHH-ooo-WUUHH lol. Making sense of a synth’s UI kinda feels like I’m looking into the cockpit of a spaceship, but today i learned i can mess with the "glide" for sub synth! Also tried to layer it with another bass with more "highs" that’ll still be heard if someone’s not listening on headphones.

Beat 3 - Slinky

Beat 4: “reverse”

I thought of like a combination of flashbacks, starting fresh, and leaving your house in a rural area and birds are chirping 🐣

Technical stuff: I’m learning about reversing audio and adding reverb to it for that swell effect

Beat 5: “fake electricity”

Feels kinda trippy like I’m inside a swimming pool. 〰️i did this one in 30min to timebox myself since I let the last one become a time monster and it scared me to come back lol

Technical stuff: i wanted to see if i could make my acoustic guitar sound like an electric guitar and slapped an old-school sounding drumloop on it.

Beat 5 - Fake Electricity

This track is my contribution to Formstory Magazine, a project where I was asked to interpret another artist's illustrations into art in a medium of my choice (I chose an instrumental!)

About the music:
I usually create acoustic mid tempo acoustic music, but this art felt very spacey and dubstep-like to me, so I attempted creating a piece in a genre out of my comfort zone!

I created this musical piece in 3 sections: 

1. Pain/anger
2. Processing
3. Empowerment

Part 1: Pain/anger  
I interpreted the beams of light to be energy and emotion and self control. The beginning depicts the fractured, bouncing light beams from the first image through a weird mechanical sound.

Part 2: Processing
The quiet part in the middle is meant to be melancholy and numb, and also calm and contemplative. Horns represent timelessness.

Part 3: Empowerment
The end of the song represents mastering tough situations that enable one to be stronger, and soon able to play, soar and advocate for those who have experienced similar situations. I represented the re-harnessing by using some of the same instruments from the angry Part 1 to happy Part 3.
