Premiered by dedicatee Leona Werner at the Boston Conservatory in 1999, the Sonata for Flute and Piano was composed by the fledgling composer Eric Scott Alexander while a graduate student at Boston University, and is his crowning achievement of the twentieth Century.	

	Alexander earned his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Music Composition from the Boston University College of Fine Arts in 2001, and Bachelor of Music degree in Music Composition from the University of Colorado, Boulder, in 1995. He has studied composition with Lukas Foss, Richard Cornell, Charles Fussell, Richard Toensing, and Ladislav Kubik. Eric currently teaches music composition and theory classes, and co-directs the annual Open Space Festival of New Music at the University of Northern Colorado. Previously he taught music theory and aural skills at the University of Colorado at Boulder, Boston University, and the Boston University Tanglewood Institute.

I am a flutist, nature and fitness enthusiast, and lover of life based in Denver, CO! I hope you enjoy listening as much as I enjoyed performing this wonderful music. I have my Master of Music Degree and Graduate Performance Certificate from the University of Northern Colorado, where I studied with Dr. James Hall and Brook Ferguson, and my Bachelor of Music Degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where I studied with Stephanie Jutt.
