This is a longer (and possibly final) version of "I do not know what it could be. Lately I have been remembering things I didn't know I'd forgotten. This piece started as a meditation and became more of a rumination on these memories lost and found.

Here are robots, moving seamlessly down a catwalk. At the end, there is a wind-machine that blows their clothes fashionably against their unrealistic bodies. Then they pivot and sashay away. Work it.

What Robot Is This?

After writing Polaroid Chrome, I was worried I wouldn't be able to make as cool a song again, so I sat down and worked on this baby for a while. It came to embody a sentiment I didn't realize I was feeling, which was something along the lines of wondering if I'm worth loving. I think many people think this at some point, which is sad, but maybe a little less sad if expressed and let go. I wrote this tune with Tucker Jessup in mind.

All We Want Is To Be Loved

A wizened old robot with a beard sits at his wooden desk and scribbles out a note for his granddaughter, perhaps feigning the hand of Santa, himself. Sometimes he paces, reflecting on the fortunes of the past year and gazing at the falling snow outside. A door creaks, the little girl-bot is out of bed, looking for Santa, sneaky rascal! She gets a story out of her old grandbot and he tucks her back in as she powers down.

Silent Night

I created this based on the YA novel "Wrecked," by author Heather Henson. I began with a recording of Kentucky in the spring (which is when/where the book takes place) and was inspired by the cawing crow. There are loops from Logic X to fill out the soundscape and turn it into a track that represents Kentucky, coming of age, motorcycles (the main character rides), rural life, and dangerous love.

Horror Piano Sting

Here's a sound I made by exploring a short hit from an instrument I designed using Sculpture (in Logic) and adding crazy reverb.
It sort of reminds me of an effect a dramatic TV show would use, but I prefer to imagine it as an alert or alarm in a super sci-fi video game.

Industrial Suspense

I created some music and very basic sound design for a clip from the game Dear Esther, by thechineseroom, which was originally scored by an amazing woman named Jessica Curry.
Imagine yourself waking up on a stone dock. You walk up the slope to an abandoned cottage with a modest lighthouse protruding from it. You turn, keeping the ocean at your left, and wander along the coastline. Few things grab your attention other than the breathtaking, lonely topography. There's a blinking red light on a tower far off, some metal cages have washed ashore, and you come upon an illustration of the Fibonacci sequence dragged into the stand with a stick by someone unknown. The water calls you. You calmly enter and let it engulf you and you do not heed the whispered request "come back... come back."

Dear Esther Demo, Music and Sound

I created a longer melody for this demo, which is set to gameplay from Fez, by Polytron. I used some nostalgic, bit-crushing sounds and added orchestral strings with a melody that reminds me Zelda. I also designed and sculpted most of the synths and sounds, which I added for fun but, as usual, got way into making.
