Yesterday - Piano solo by eLJe 1993

This story is outwardly about an ageing, Jewish, gay artist who is reminiscing about a doomed love affair and long dead lover from the concentration camps. He is preparing to paint his last portrait and seeks a young model to pose. Something is odd about their whole encounter. It has a dream-like quality, or is it science fiction or imagination?

Memories - Movie Main Title

During a seminar in Bulgaria I was privileged to meet American music producer Andy Hill. I wrote this piece the evening prior to my appointment with him. The name of this piano solo is a combination of the name Andy and the character tempo indication Andantino. I believe the role of the producer is often underestimated as part of the creative process while the final product composers aim for is highly dependent on how well their work is brought to life by the producer.

In collaboration with Simon O'Corra improvising on djembe and eLJe transforming it into a musical composition, a short musical piece from where the idea of a short film elevator scene sprung. The music represents the insipid structure often associated with elevator music and the repetitive monothematic elements associated with being confined in a closed space.
