In Samhain/Day of the Dead tradition, this was a community gathering to remember our departed loved ones and connect to our ancestral lineages. Through the acts of drinking cacao, community ceremony, ecstatic dance and sound bath, we consciously healed our ancestral lines and celebrated where we have come from. Many of our community members collaborated on what was a potent night of celebration, healing and connection.

This set was inspired by the rich tapestry of ancestral lineages of our community, and I was accompanied live by my incredibly talented friends Trevor on handpan and percussion, and Dave on bass and percussion. I also performed some live vocal loops and percussion.

'Celebration of Love' house party bass set 17.12.21

Stoked to present my opening set for Chrysalis 2022 – an intentional gathering to cultivate community, connection and consciousness in the forest of Salmo, BC.

Chrysalis 2022 - opening downtempo bass set

Super stoked to realise a goal and present my first sunrise set from a stage I helped design and build under the power of the full moon at my final music festival this summer. It was fun to focus on downtempo and global bass vibes as we transitioned from the dark of night into the rising dawn, and I was happy to capture my live-looped vocals, didjeridoo and percussion on the recording. Dance of the Bloom – Spring Equinox 19.03.22

I present my ecstatic dance journey for our Samhain community gathering to reflect on a year past, envision the next to come and celebrate our ancestral lineages. Captured on the recording are my live vocals, didjeridoo and percussion.

In Samhain tradition we opened with a community feast and social time, followed by a facilitated ritual to harness the potency of this time of year. We then danced together as a community to celebrate, and finally grounded in the evening’s intentions with a potent sound bath.

Here is my 2 hour dance journey set at Synergy – my first time offering in Vancouver. With a longer set I was able to curate a few waves and jammed with a plethora of genres including downtempo, global bass, breakbeats, deep house, afrobeat, psytrance, trap, drum and bass, dubstep and medicine music. Synergy Ecstatic Dance Vancouver 09.05.23

Happy to share my dance journey set from our potent Dance of the Light gathering where we connected in community to celebrate the Summer Solstice as many of our ancestors did – outside around the bonfire and under the stars.

Shambhala 2023 – Su Casa stage tribal bass set 21.07.23

It was my pleasure to co-host this gathering in alignment with many cultures around the world to celebrate the ‘thinning of the veil’ and come together to honour the rich diversity of our community’s lineages through ceremony, dance and community connection. 

My intention with this journey was to inspire the dancers to move and release any residual ancestral trauma they may be carrying and to access the ancestral wisdom encoded in their DNA. Dance of the Ancestors – Samhain/All Hallows 31.10.23

Dance of the Sun was a Summer Solstice gathering I hosted on my new land, with ceremony and intention setting around the bonfire and dancing into the night with community, and our most abundant dance journey gathering yet.

My intention with this live journey was to tap into the vibrancy and vitality of this astrological gateway into Summer, utilising the Sun's energy to manifest intentions into our reality and co-create a celebration in connection with the land and to strengthen bonds between our ever-evolving community. It was super rewarding to collab with @portalcrewproductions on the stage build and design again, and then play at hour set at 6.30pm on Saturday night. Much love to all the Portal stage crew and collaborators, including the @renegadesoundcollective for levelling up our stage with their amazing sound system, and props to all the homies who came out to support. Endless gratitude to life for providing these amazing opportunities for creative expression and community collaboration.

Wicked Woods 2024 – Portal stage bass set 31.08.24

Grateful to share my live-recorded dance journey here (including live looping with vocals, yidaki/didjeridoo, flute and percussion) with the Ecstatic Dance Melbourne community. As this was the first dance of the New Year, the theme of 'rebirth' came through as I started preparing this journey, reflecting on what is happening in my life currently as well as the opportunity to be reborn into a New Year cycle. May we let old patterns that are no longer serving die, as we call in and embody more of our unlimited potential for 2025 and beyond – and may this dance journey serve in your elevation.

Ecstatic Dance Melbourne – "Rebirth" 10.01.25

Here’s my opening set to The Magic Garden Vol. 6 “Invasion/Survival Day” celebration. I was honoured to play after Ben Moodie’s opening ceremony and help set the vibe for the day ahead with a rising tribal bass, ethnic midtempo and psytech journey, highlighting some indigenous styles in honour of celebrating First Nations as opposed to the colonial settler violence this day represents for many.

Happy Autumnal Equinox all! In celebration of the length of the day being equal to the length of the night, as well as the arrival of a new earth season in the astrological sign of Libra, I present a curated setlist that encompasses a balance of light and dark.

Autumnal Equinox Conscious Dance 24.09.20

Elkemist is a versatile multi-instrumentalist, hybrid live DJ and facilitator who plays multi-genre sets rooted in mystical sounds and ethnic flavours. With a deep love of tribal bass blended with rising psychedelic energy, his sets are curated to take audiences on a sacred journey of sonic alchemy, supported by live looping with yidaki/didjeridoo, vocals, flute and percussion.

Elkemist has contributed tribal bass sets and ecstatic dance workshops to festivals around Canada and Australia including Shambhala (CAN), Wicked Woods (CAN), Dragon Dreaming (AUS), Chrysalis (CAN), Elevate (CAN), Tribe Ascension (AUS), The Magic Garden (AUS) and Kootenay Yoga Festival (CAN). Beyond festival sets, Elkemist also facilitated a weekly ecstatic dance in Nelson, BC (Canada) called Dance Wave, as well as co-hosted regular community ceremonial gatherings, and ran a bi-weekly men’s circle.

Whether it’s a rising tribal bass journey, sacred gathering, ecstatic dance or sunrise festival set, expect a voyage across space and time, inspired by sounds from around the world to encourage dancers to move beyond the perceived limits of their bodies and minds.
