The Morning

Circling was recorded in a live session with some dear friends. Short but sweet, this EP is the culmination of a few years of songwriting and was made possible by new and old friends who've lended their support, voices, and talent. Circling is about growth and acceptance, the feeling of simultaneous expansion and return to self. Best for listening to under a tree with your feet in the grass. I hope you enjoy.

When the pandemic hit, I was inspired by Japanese Breakfast’s song-a-day-for-a-month album “June,” and thought it might be a good direction for my stay-at-home energy. Each song here was written and recorded (more or less) in one day, one after the next. I've been writing songs for a few years, but I've never actually made this much music in my life. It was both stimulating and exhausting, but it helped me create some things I hope to use in a more fleshed-out album - so please let me know which songs you liked most! 

I only ended up doing 21 of the intended 30 songs, but I figured I'd release what I have. When the new wave of Black Lives Matter protests began a few weeks ago, I took a step back from music to spend more time self-educating and contributing what I can. As I’m a bit hesitant about putting my white voice out into the world at a time when centering Black voices is crucial, I'll be donating 100% of any sales from this album to the African American Cultural Center of the Capital Region.
