Mae Karthauser's brand new album, August, is a collection of songs that were each written in one day, all within one month: August 2021. The songs were arranged for the trio of piano, flute and cello with three vocals, allowing for imagination and innovation to flourish. In the spirit of 1960s Laurel Canyon, these 14 songs were recorded in just 2 days as live performances at the Sorting Room Studio in Dartington, home turf for the musicians and a return to Mae's place of musical study. Simplicity and authenticity are prioritised over technical "perfection" to capture the vibrancy of these adventurous songs as they emerge from the ether and into the material world. The result is a raw, real, and relatable energy that carries the listener on a journey through many magical worlds.

With creeping synths and hyper-conscious lyricism Dos Floris distils moments of life into sound waves.  In the wake of an emotionally charged separation, “Somebody Else” tackles the struggle to recenter oneself in a compassionate mindset after being deeply wounded by a partner acting out of their wounds. Instead of continuing the pattern of grasping at a futile relationship, the song expresses a will to forgive and move on.

After spending the better part of two years on the road opening for La Dispute, Tegan and Sara, and more, Chicago based Pictoria Vark revisits her debut single, "I Can't Bike" from The Parts I Dread, with a remix from Get Better Records label mate, Teenage Sequence. The London-based artist puts a lighthearted, New Wave spin on the breezy lead single.

 

"Pictoria Vark is such a great storyteller, and 'I Can’t Bike' instantly captivated me. I totally fell in love with the track and the bass line — it’s so powerful and driving, but holds everything together perfectly, almost like something Peter Hook would do, which led to me thinking, 'what if New Order wrote this song?' and that’s what I tried to do,” says Dewan-Dean Soomary, aka Teenage Sequence, on the inspiration for this remix.

I remember the moment I ran.

The road was endless, every mile heavier than the last. Fear chased me, but so did hope. I crossed the line, and the world changed – silence broke open into fire, color, music. Neon shadows rose around me, strangers fleeing their own cages, their own ghosts. Together we became more than seekers, more than refugees – we became free.

And then, through the storm of dust and light, I saw him.
Our hands met again under a sky burning with flames and sound. No chains, no walls, no borders – only us, and thousands more who chose to leave the old world behind and celebrate a new one.

In 2021 Ella Lockert released her debut solo EP Confusing. She got listed on Norwegian national radio, was picked up by BBC introducing, got listed on Amazing Radio US and UK, and Master Class Radio (Canada) voted Ella Lockert Artist of the Year.

Ella Lockert's love for music started early. She began singing in The Norwegian Opera Choir for children at the young age of seven. She  made it to the the final in a Norwegian song writing contest for children. She also dabbles with acting and stars in a classic Norwegian Christmas movie "Snekker Andersen og Julenissen" and is currently in the brand new TV series "VGS".
