Catharsis (kuh-thahr-sis.) noun: the purging or release of emotions esp. through music, art or creative vices.

I was never a strong writer and journaling is not my thing, but i found my outlet and there is nothing more fulfilling to me than expressing myself in sound waves. 

This collection of music is a highlight of nearly 35 individual pieces I have written in the past 12 months (I won’t lie - some of them sucked.) Each of these records represent a moment in time, a memory, a feeling, an emotion that are at the core of who I am. When I first started this process, I actually never thought I would be putting my cathartic creations out into world and to be honest it’s scary. It is also exhilarating to think that my cathartic process may potentially inspire someone else and their creative catharsis. 

I’m not going to try and tell you that this is game changing or that it’s going to be the best music you’ve ever heard, that is all secondary to the purpose and process - this is music for me, by me. 
What you’re about to listen to is an audio representation of what goes on inside my hyperactive, back-to-front thinking and somewhat out-there brain on a daily basis. It is full of some of the best moments in my life and inspired lots of my favourite creators across a multitude of mediums.

KOLIDESCOPES are Australia’s Johnny Castro and the UK’s Dan Dare. Released last year, their single All My Love proved an international hit, sitting pretty in the top 10 Upfront Club Charts, peaking at #6. 

Before forming KOLIDESCOPES with Dan, Johnny was one half of electro pop duo Parachute Youth whose platinum-selling Can’t Get Better Than This reached the  #1 spot in nine countries worldwide. 

Dan’s entry into the industry was as a member of grime’s Gritty Committee before adopting the SLANG moniker under which he produced Bright Lights, a collab between Wiley, Giggs and Juelz Santana. More recently under the name Dan Dare, he’s produced hits for the likes of Charli XCX, Marina & The Diamonds and WSTRN.

Following the release of three other singles earlier this year – a collection of melodic, intricately textured anthems – Whenever You Call is a tune reminiscent of a sunset over a colourful horizon. With vocals that speak of supporting loved ones and meandering riffs sprinkled with reverb, the tune is reflective as much as it is for the club. 

Whenever You Call is the fourth in a series of singles from KOLIDESCOPES, with further releases planned throughout 2019.

'I always thought 'Be Mine' deserved a vocal and surprisingly Amy Rose's vocal from 'Sound 4 U'  seemed to work so well over it, so made it into a little mashup. Both are my fav tracks from the EP, so I love that there is a fusion into one song.'
