Let’s talk about “the chase.” I’ve always detested it. Because sadly 99% of the times I put it all out there and chased someone, I was left broken hearted. So I swore I would never ever ever do it again. And then I met Austin. Oh Austin with the green eyes and the dimples and the perfect teeth and James Dean hair… good God I was done for. And there I was again tempted by the stupid little chase bug. I started leaving little notes on his car, texting him first (OMG I know), moving my schedule so I could see him more, going out of my way to put on makeup and a cute outfit before he’d pick me up. I remember trying so hard to fight it but the way I felt about him was undeniable, and he definitely made taking it slow harder than I would’ve liked. 
I wrote my newest single “I Hate Cardio” about this feeling. Hating the chase and yet being so excited about somebody that you’re almost tripping through your own emotions trying to resist it with little to no success. So much of the time we are stuck between playing it cool, and putting it all out there. And I’m so excited and proud of this song because I think we captured this concept in a very unique, never done before kinda way, that so many of us can relate to in this crazy dating world we live in.

I wrote Upstream at a point in life when I really needed an anthem to keep going. Upstream is about not giving up on yourself, your dreams, or your life. It’s a reminder to “keep on swimming” even when you feel like the odds are stacked against you. I hope this song inspires other to take charge of their worth, to know they are unique, and that their future is worth fighting for.

I think self love is one of the biggest internal challenges we as humans face. I find myself asking the question often, “Why am I so mean to myself?” There’s times I’ve caught myself mid negative thought and been like “wow I would never say this to someone else, why is it so easy to say it to myself?” I wrote ‘Nicer To Myself’ during a time where it almost felt impossible to look in the mirror and not pick apart everything I saw. It felt impossible to not compare my flaws to everyone else’s highlight reel. But after really letting myself step into that sad dark place, I was able to find the words to tap into this concept and create a really emotional and heartfelt song that has brought a lot of light, love, and acceptance back to me. There might be more of my heart in this song than maybe anything else I’ve written. I can’t wait for the you to hear this song and accept the challenge to be nicer to yourself too.
