Fedde Le Grand has the honor of remixing Michael Jackson's new single "Love Never Felt So Good"

Well, this one is really close to my heart and soul...

It's no secret that I worship Kevin Yost as a producer and a musician. Whether it's his deep/jazzy house, his downtempo jazz influence productions, his tech house alter egos, his live jazz band performances, his drumming in a reggae band, his movie scores, or his most recent 'live and improvised' shows, it's always quality with this guy... I can declare with a high degree of certainty that I can recognize a Kevin Yost track within the first few seconds of hearing it, because there is nobody out there that can match his complexly-layered, yet, often times, extraordinarily simple productions. There are very few musicians and producers out there that excite me as much as this guy does.

This mix was originally aired on my Sixth Sense Radio Show on the now-defunct online Radio Proval. Apart from my regular weekly show, I had started a once-a-month 'Reminiscence' series the purpose of which was to focus on the productions of a single artist, as a tribute. Naturally, this was the first installment. 

The focus here is on Kevin Yost's early house works, spanning the late 90's to the early 2000's. I wanted this to be a somewhat diverse mix that showcases various aspects of his production - lots of deep and driving basslines, percussion-filled tracks, jazzy solos and instrumentals, some vocal tracks, a couple of his early more techy productions, etc. It was a difficult task, keeping in mind that the man has put out hundreds of tracks and I only had a very short window of a couple of days to put this mix together...

A couple years later, I put together a downtempo jazz tribute to the man, which you will be able to download on my Soundcloud page soon ;) There is a lot more where this came from and I can create quite a few mixes with only KY tracks, but let's not get carried away for now.
