This piece depicts the unique layer of color surrounding the sun during a solar eclipse. It is thin and fragile, yet charged with energy and bursts of color. The orchestra shifts from color to color, building to a dramatic outburst of spectral dissonance followed by a cello section solo that resolves into a final shimmery starburst that fades into dust. 
I have been studying Spectralism with Dr. Robert Thompson at GSU, and a lot of that is reflected in this piece.   I analyzed a trumpet note with the computer (Spear, Open Music) and derived a tone row from the overtones in order of appearance.  I also made it into a scale to facilitate melodic writing.  I transcribed the partials of the F natural to the orchestra, and also an FM sonority designed as a dissonant counterpart  - those are the shimmery out of tune chords. There's some 12 tone writing in there - I'm kind of synthesizing a style that includes timbral harmony and atonal abstract textures.  Not sure what I'm doing. I like it that way.

Sultry dark, heavy, viscous and anesthetic rythm floods receptors and awakes longing for dissolving and merging into its taste. Bold and raw.
Dark and filthy hypnotic rhytms for melancholic consciousness.
