Metapattern seeks a delicate balance between familiarity and innovation. Their goal is to push the boundaries of techno while honoring its roots, delivering music that is not only dancefloor-ready but also imbued with emotion and a profound sense of artistry. This deep connection to the dancefloor stems from the artist's lifelong passion for movement, translating that energy and expression into every beat.

Metapattern is also an Ableton certified professor, author of two books, "Secrets Of Techno," and a professional educator for nearly two decades.

We're also thrilled to share  that Metapattern has just released their second album, "Lost Tapes," on the MORD label.

This episode continues VARIA's mission: championing considered electronic expression and lasting artistry.

All the way from Berlin, E2NMN joins us as the 53rd guest in the Set the Mood series.

For E2NMN, a perfect opening set is an opportunity to sculpt the energy of a space from the ground up, gently leading people from stillness into motion. It’s about creating tension that never fully releases, shaping anticipation rather than commanding attention. With a deliberate and thoughtful approach, E2NMN treats the opening slot not as a warm-up, but as a vital moment of transition. Her role, as she sees it, is not to steal the spotlight, but to quietly open the doors.

In the DJ booth, E2NMN crafts immersive experiences through the deeper spectrum of techno, where atmospheric textures meet intricate rhythms and powerful synth work. Her sets transcend the physicality of movement, seeking instead to spark introspection and foster a profound connection on the dancefloor.

Hello bastards,
My name is Ellen.
Born in a small town in Sweden.

I found my passion for mixing just a few years ago (in 2022). Something just clicked, and I guess my love for sounds and frequencies hit me hard. I honestly can’t explain how grateful I am for that. I’ve never felt more at home than with music as my companion.

Behind the mixer, time and space disappear. I get to play around with sounds, completely lose myself, and throw in whatever wicked stuff I think will make it interesting and fun.
I want to create soundscapes (ambient is my best friend), so I work a lot with rhythms and minimal textures to build grooves. I’m constantly on the lookout for new sounds that keep me inspired. Basically, I collect sounds and use them like pencils. You could almost say this is my “color diary book.”

My BPM range is anything from very (very) slow to 140+.
