Ellen McAteer is a published writer and songwriter. She started composing songs out of boredom while awaiting the birth of her twin sons five years ago. Rory Walker produced and remixed many of these recordings. She went on to found Oxford band the Blue Valentines, and was also in the core group of performers at Hammer and Tongue, an Oxford-based spoken word collective. Now working at The Glasgow School of Art and the Scottish Writers’ Centre, she is a mentee of the Clydebuilt Verse Apprenticeship Scheme. She gigs at the Go Slow Café and the Tchai Ovna teahouse.

Ellen McAteer, a published poet and songwriter, is based in London. Her song Blue Valentine won a BBC radio competition, and has been used in a TV advert. She was formerly a member of the band Stone Tape. She works for Poetry London.
